Interesting Hotel

Our visit was only two days - visiting friends in the city. The appearance of the hotel from the outside was alarming due to the run down building and overall appearance. The whole room had a strange oder and I don't think it has been deep cleaned in years due to the sticky floors and dirt/dust buildup. However, the sheets and towels were clean so no complaints there! Breakfast was ok, including waffles, bagels, eggs & assorted beverages - hot coffee is all I really need to be happy. Overall you get what you pay for here, don't expect luxury or a silent nights sleep.
Right off the highway & Basic

Easy on & off the highway - The room was clean, no frills but had everything that we needed. The hotel is walkable to restaurants in town & the river & has a continental breakfast. Great value & comfort for a quick overnight!
Bus tour & cruise

This is the hotel chosen by the tour group I was on and its cost was included in our package.
The riverfront property is nice, if you have a room facing the river. (Our room was not.) The bathrooms are decent, with plenty of towels, and our room included a refrigerator, safe and the usual amenities. While this wasn’t an ‘accessible’ room, the shower did have a grab bar, which my mom appreciates. Be advised that the tub does not have any ‘skid-proofing’ and is therefore very slippery, even when not wet. (I recommend putting a towel down in the bottom to stand on while showering to avoid slipping.)
So, why the average rating? Two major reasons: the bed was awful and the breakfast area was not well-taken care of.
The full size bed must have been from the 1930s because there was a Great Depression in the middle of it. It was as if someone had placed a huge bowling ball on it for a decade and left it there to sink into the center. It was very uncomfortable and I slept poorly as a result. My mom reported that her bed had two such ‘holes’ and she didn’t sleep well either. It’s definitely time to invest in new mattresses here.
The breakfast area was sparse in comparison to some of the other Quality Inns Ive stayed in, though it had the basics. There seemed to be no one tending to the area, as the orange juice was not refilled, the pastry/bread bin sat two-thirds empty, and the countertop was a mess from spilled sugar and cereal.
Additionally, this hotel does not have an elevator, so if hauling your baggage to the second floor on foot, up steps, isn’t for you, best be sure you’re assigned a ground floor.
One more note: the room I stayed in was an offshoot of the main wing, however, because we came in from the bus in a side door with our room keys assigned to us, we looked for signage indicating the direction of our room. The signs did not include our room number and I went to front desk to ask. The two people there did say that they needed to add signs for the rooms on that direction because it wasn’t obvious.
Shabby

This is the shabbiest hotel I've stayed in in decades. I can't believe that the overall rating is as high as it is. We booked the room when we were tired travelers on the road, and I made the mistake of not reading the reviews. The "Comfort Inn Riverfront" sounds quite nice, and we were looking forward to a relaxing evening after a long day's ride. We drove quite a way off the interstate to get there. However, the arrival at the hotel raised flags since the area was dark and deserted. The long walk to our first-floor room took us down the saddest-looking hallway I've ever seen in a hotel. The carpet was stained, the wallpaper was torn, and there were dings and scratches on practically every surface. When we arrived at our room and saw the parking lot just outside our window, I was ready to leave and go elsewhere, but my husband was exhausted and we decided to stay.
To be fair, the room itself was not nearly as bad as the hallway, but it also had a lot of rough spots and the bedding was not nearly as comfortable as it had been in the other Comfort Inns on this trip. I did not feel safe in this location and barely slept; we checked out about 6:00 a.m. and hit the road without even having breakfast.
Great view of the Susquehanna river at sunset!

This hotel is about location, location, location. It is an older facility in need of new carpet but the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The free breakfast was fine and the staff was helpful and courteous. I pulled in and got to the front desk just behind a bus full of Asian tourists. Staying calm and patient as this was likely one of those times during one's travels that there is nothing to do about it, I slowly stepped through the crowd (not a line) and made it to the desk where I was pleasantly surprised to be promptly checked in by a second person at the desk while the first sorted out 30+ room keys to the tour guide. Well done! Also, I loved it that after 10PM is quiet time. More hotels should do that.
