Passing through

We stopped for the night here on our road trip westward. The room was very clean and quiet. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was so friendly and checking in and out was quick. The breakfast provided was very good as well.
Decent price & newly updated, but lacking in hospitality & maintenance

We stayed here 2 nights, on a Saturday through Monday, in mid July. Guests included myself, my husband, our 18-year-old son, 16-year-old daughter & her friend, and our 3-year-old daughter.
Pros:
* They allowed us to check in an hour earlier than the normal check-in time.
* They put us on the first floor, right next to the pool! I always dislike being on a floor other than the bottom floor & having to rely on the elevator or stairs.
* There were plenty of power outlets and charging ports.
* There was a big closing closet with a mirror on the door.
* The hotel itself looks fairly nice on the outside and inside.
* The price was pretty good; we paid $65/night at Hotels.com for a 2 queen, 1 sofa sleeper room for 6 guests..which is also a con because the sofa sleeper was non-functioning (see CONS below for further explanation). We could have saved $5/night by going directly through ChoiceHotels.com and joining their free rewards program, but we wanted to stick with Hotels.com because we were 2 nights closer to getting a free night's stay. We have stayed at many hotels in many different places over the years, and a hotel that offers an indoor pool, free hot breakfast, and a room as big as ours can be around $100 or more a night, so we feel the price we paid was good (again, other than the fact the sofa sleeper was non-functioning).
* Indoor pool & hot tub (CON: the hot tub was not hot at all & had dead bugs in it!)
* Complimentary hot breakfast! Items included scrambled eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits, bread, bagels, mini cinnamon rolls, boiled eggs, waffles you make yourself (original or strawberry batter), yogurt, and oranges (I may be missing something). Apple juice, orange juice, water, and coffee were also available.
* The a/c worked well (it wasn't on when we first came in, so the room was a little hot, but it didn't take long to cool the room off).
* The area seemed safe.
* The shower got hot enough and was clean, comfortable, and recently updated (though the bathroom itself was a bit on the small side).
* The beds were comfortable and the pillows fluffy. :-)
Cons:
* The second set of automatic double glass doors at the entrance is painfully slow. You have to stand right in front of it, almost with your nose touching, before it will open, on either side.
* There were 4 light bulbs missing or not working in our room, one of them being the main ceiling light in the entryway when you first walk in. I let the man at the desk know, who appeared to be the manager, and he acted surprised and said he would come take care of it. I went back to my room and closed the door but stuck the lock out so that it wouldn't shut all the way and lock, since my kids went to put the luggage cart away and were coming right back. A couple minutes later I happened to turn around and saw the man I had just spoken to at the front desk walk through our door, never knocking, saying a word, or checking to see if it was OK to come in, and started walking through the room to see what bulbs needed to be replaced. It was a little awkward. Then we thought he had walked out, but it turns out he was in the bathroom, I'm assuming replacing more bulbs (I didn't realize there were ones not working in the bathroom).
* We reserved our particular room because we had 2 adults & 4 children with us and needed 2 Queen beds and a sofa sleeper. The sofa sleeper area was separated from the beds by a partial divider, so my teenaged daughter & her friend were excited to have that as their "room" so they could have a bit more privacy. However, when we unfolded the sofa sleeper, the netting that the mattress lays on was completely disconnected from the frame at the bottom, thereby making it unuseable as a bed. I was going to go see if they could put us in another room, but we had already put our stuff away and gotten comfortable, so my husband said our teenaged son could just sleep on the couch and our daughter and her friend could take one of the beds. They sure were disappointed, and our son didn't have the best sleep because he is 6'5"! To top it off, we had to ask for sheets and a pillow for him. Normally in rooms with a sleeper sofa they have extra bedding in the closet. So yeah...definitely disappointed that we paid $10 extra per night for a non-functioning sofa sleeper!
I see another customer posted a TripAdvisor review at the end of May who complained of a broken sofa sleeper. Pretty sure we got the same room and am very surprised it hasn't been taken care of yet!
* The mini fridge had a big sticky yellow spot on the bottom shelf, and the fridge itself constantly made an irritating ticking sound.
* The hot tub was not working. This was one of the reasons we booked this hotel was for the hot tub, but it was unuseable. It was the same temperature as the pool! It also had dead flies and a dead cricket in it.
* The wifi worked 10 minutes when we first arrived, and then pretty much didn't work for any of us the remainder of our 2 days there. We kept getting an error message when we'd sign in. It did work one other time for about an hour. This same thing actually happened at the last Comfort Suites we stayed in, last month in Denton, TX.
* Not the hotel's fault, but the people right above us were stomping & banging around until 12:30 AM our first night...seriously sounded like they were bowling up there! We could hear it with earplugs in and the a/c and a fan running!
* There were at least 3 flies harassing us at the breakfast area our first morning there. I don't think I've ever seen flies at the breakfast area of a hotel before. Maybe because the breakfast area isn't in its own room like most hotels, it's out in the open close to the entrance. ??
* One thing I love about hotel stays is coming back from a long day with my bed sheets made up and fresh towels. Many hotels I've stayed in clean your room around 10 or 11 AM or earlier. We came back at 1:30 PM and they had taken our dirty towels but did not restock with clean ones or take out our trash, restock the shampoo/conditioner/soap, or make up our beds (even though we made sure we had no personal items on our beds, because some places won't make up your bed if you have personal items on it). I suppose it is possible they were planning on coming back to take care of all that, but I somehow doubt it. We've stayed in places before where, even when they knew we were inside our room, they would still come ask if we needed anything. We never received that courtesy. We had to go ask for new towels. They didn't even ask, "Do you need wash rags, as well?" Later we had to ask for toilet paper. It's fortunate we were on the first floor.
* If the door to the pool area was closed all the way, we couldn't get in with our room key. It wasn't working. We had to go get someone to open it for us.
* The door leading outside right by the pool was stuck open and wouldn't close, so anyone could just walk in to the hotel back there.
* I don't remember one time ever being greeted when walking past the front desk.
In conclusion, this place is modern and updated with decent breakfast options, a comfy bed, and a decent rate, but hospitality and basic maintenance are lacking. We will consider staying elsewhere our next time in Mineral Wells.
Decent Hotel at a Good Price

Mineral Wells is a nice little town. You are not going to find luxurious accomodations here. And if you did, we are too cheap to stay there. The hotel was cheap, clean, and safe. That's all we ask. There were some small maintenance issues at the hotel, but none that mattered. After all, it was 104 degrees outside and the air conditioning worked. Does anything else matter? We would stay there again.
Honestly Loved It

We were so impressed with this place. The people running it were SO nice! Our room was spacious and really clean. The pool was fantastic...heated, but not at all hot. It was the perfect temp. My granddaughter and I had a wonderful time in it. There was plenty of hot water for showers, and the rooms were quiet. The property is pet friendly which is a must for us. The breakfast was just fine...plenty to choose from. Did I mention how nice the employees were, as it's worth noting twice. And the icing on the cake...we were blown away by the price...a true bargain! We WILL be back!
Decent Hotel

The front desk staff was very nice. The hotel was clean, though in need of some minor repairs, but nothing that inhibited a clean/decent stay. Our room was very large. It had a large tv, mini fridge, microwave and the king sized bed was comfortable. Even the pull out couch was decent for our child. Air conditioner kept the room nice and cold. The pool area is fun and clean, but desperately needs more ventilation. The overwhelming chlorine smell actually gave us all sore throats and the coughing from that made for a pretty sleepless night. The breakfast was okay. The warming trays were up too high, so the gravy and eggs were starting to scorch at 7am when we went down. The biggest issue I had was house keeping barging in right before 10am while we had our "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door. I was concerned I had mistaken check out time, but when I confirmed it was not until 11am, I was not very happy. I suggest not forgetting to use all of the locks like I unfortunately did. Overall, the stay was good for $60. We would happily return if the pool area got some decent ventilation.
