friendly front desk people, laundromat which stayed open late, pleasant room with hair-dryer. stayed in two different rooms and the second one (bottom floor in the back) smelled moldy. comfortable, however, and had nice courtyard/pool area.

Excellent value for money, lovely clean room, very good facilities, all staff very friendly and helpful.Nice pool on internal courtyard and rooms serviced every 2 days. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was the worst hotel we have stayed in - ever probably! Very run down and badly in need of some tender loving care. The mess outside the entrance was not a good sign - badly in need of a sweep. The room was decidedly grubby, disgusting black grout in the bathroom, tile floors sticky, surfaces in the room badly in need of a decent clean, outdoor table covered in dirty food/drink marks, only a sheet on the bed and a grubby blanket in wardrobe, 2 cups + 2 saucers + 2 teaspoons only, no lift, slimey steps into the pool. Would never ever stay here again and have advised my travel agent.

This hotel is well situated for the restaurants and shops in and around the Esplanade but it has the potential to be so much better! The breakfast room is very small and can be quite noisy when half full. The breakfast choice was average (continental and cooked breakfast) but nothing special. There was no luggage rack in the rooms which SHOULD BE STANDARD (but doesn't seem to be in Australia). There was a huge 50" flat screen in the room which was not needed at all, as the wifi was dreadful! We would have preferred no tv but decent wifi. Even though we were on the ground floor and quite close to reception, signal strength was poor. There is a swimming pool but not many sun loungers. Air conditioning and fan were in the bedrooms which is a must as Cairns is tropical.

Not sure how this hotel got a 4 star rating. Would not recommend if you are expecting 4 star quality. The bathrooms were filthy. The grout in the shower was disgusting (and in the rest of the bathroom as well). There were only 2 flat sheets on the bed. Nasty brown blankets in the closet could be used, but they were pilled, old, and off putting. We definitely did not feel comfortable in this hotel
