Found a gem in the wilderness

I will give this property a 4.5 rating out of 5.
The property is amazing. The drive to this place is amazing. If you have gone in a group you are going to love this place as you can sit in the open and chat, play badminton, lot of board games available with them.
This property is for people who want to relax away from city life.
We were there for new year celebration and the owners made it memorable for everyone staying in the property...
Bonfire & DJ on new years eve..
The owner Mr Ayush took us out himself for the night safari. The experience of the night safari was great.
Summing it all up it was a wonderful and a lovely stay.
Dense Forests, walks to Kosi river, night safaris, legends of leopards, fabulous food and one scorpion. Purrrrfect!!!

Now this place in Nainital district is 360 km from Gurgaon. While on NH-309 towards Ranikhet, after Ranikhet Hotel and Resorts you have to be very careful to take this "blink and miss" right turn towards Betalghat, i.e you have to leave Ranikhet route and move along Kosi river. Since this place is not at great heights from the sea level, so going in June and opting for an AC Deluxe Room proved to be a better accidental choice than those non-ac cottages. Caring and concerned property owner, absolutely humble and magnanimous Mr Ayush, the son of the owner, if I am not wrong was admirable. Despite our over sight as guests, rather than going into arguments, Mr Ayush believes in solving issues, the biggest plus point of the place. He was very helpful in giving us a great package deal with great promptness.
Pros:
Fabulous food! Buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners had lot of variety and taste.
The inside dining area had comfortable sitting arrangement, open area dining was very nice as well.
There was lot of greenery around the big resort with good views.
A big swimming pool with continuous water purification.
Airy first floor rooms with lots of greenery.
Absolutely humble staff and so was Mr Aalam, the Manager/Supervisor.
Wonderful 20 minutes guided morning trek down to Kosi river through this small village.
Again a great 10-15 minutes guided walk through a dense jungle to this Sunset point in evening with complimentary tea there. BLISS!! Fantastic views of Kosi and mountains surrounding from drop dead cliff.
40-45 minutes guided night safari in an open jeep with an expert driver and a guide was an experience of a lifetime. When those 2-3 pair of animal eyes look at you from great heights of the mountains, you get a chill down your spine merely at the thought of a possible big cat stalking you.
Close proximity to Almora-40km and Ranikhet-30km again makes it a great place for a weekend get away from NCR.
Cons:
Morning Chai at buffet breakfast.
The ideal breakfast timings at most of the places is 8 o'clock morning, but here we had to wait till 9 am for the same. In 35 degree celsius, it was some task to finish the food, so that we could rush back to our AC rooms as mercury rose to 35+.
Chapatis took ages to come as some other guests decided to have a-la-carte instead of buffet, so we finished our lunch by 3.45pm.
Desserts were a disappointment like Mango cream had more of a double toned milk than cream or almost melted ice-cream the other day.
There was only very basic landscaping with only one hammock to lie back on. No benches, sit out areas, lots of dead leaves and foliage around.
Whats the use of the pool if you cant see the clear water, whatever may be the reason, again a big dampener for me and my kid.
Too many insects crawling inside your rooms and toilets all the time. Black Scorpions, house lizards and giant spiders are not welcome at all to be precise.
Its a bit embarrassing as a guest to ask for the daily in room complimentary replenishments like mineral water, tea bags and toiletries etc. which they gave promptly though.
Only cash and NEFT payments are accepted. ATMs aren't nearby, nearest convenience shops are 4kms from the resort to buy water n stuff at regular MRP.
Excluding the 2 complimentary half litre mineral water bottles, you have to shell out Rs50 for premium 1 litre bottles, bizarre!!
No TVs in deluxe rooms was again a debatable subject.
If some of the consequences of living at this place are taken care of by Resort Owners, and the control freak, price conscious travellers like me learn to let go and take some, if not all things with a pinch of salt, then its a place worth visiting again.
Time to get lost in the wilderness !!

Found this gem nestled in the sparsely populated village of Betalghat. While the journey from Corbett to the resort could be a little rough; the final destination is worth the efforts. Beautiful resort with decent amenities. Having stayed in top notch resorts across the length and breadth of the country, I was not sure how this one would turn out to be. But I must say I was not disappointed except a few hiccups here and there.
Food was delectable. Lunches were better than the dinners. Every single dish prepared turned out to be extremely delicious. Staff and Service was pretty good too. The only low was the pool which uses the stream/river water and has moss all over the base of the pool making it impossible to swim. Since we were travelling in June, when the sun is scorching during the day; a nice swim would have added to the experience.
The hotel arranged for breakfast at the riverside at a discounted rate as goodwill gesture since there was some confusion in our communication. This turned out to be a high of the trip along with the night safari; the first that I experienced in India post the night safaris in South Africa.
I would highly recommend this resort if you are a nature enthusiast like me and love getting lost in the wilderness.
Desolate but good resort

We had a 2n/3d planned stay at this very offbeat resort near BETALGHAT village from 05 May ' 17 to 07 May ' 17 .
Resort is very good with basic amenities but the journey to reach there is very tiring and a bit scary ( due to extremely mountain terrain ).
Food is very good and they take you on a night safari ( 1 hour ride ) in an open GYPSY which is very thrilling and if lucky might spot a loepard.
Owners , the NANDAS are very good people and they have a property in NAINITAL too ( SWISS cottage ) .
We stayed for only 1 night as we were alone at resort and apart from night safari , the place has nothing much to offer to keep you occupied .
Good for people who want to be cut-off from outside world and enjoy complete isolation.
Would recommend a 1 night stay .
Team outing for one night

Hotels is nestled in the hills. Approximately 60 kms from Jim Corbett park. The drive from Jim Corbett to betalghat is scenic but tiring.
Hotel was nice spacious rooms but lacked amenities. Bathroom was spacious but could be cleaner.
Food taste was great and so was the service
Swimming pool is a no no as it does not have water filtration and full of mould
