The hotel is fairly modest, but does truly live up to its name: it boasts superb views over the ravine of the Douro, and our room even had a little balcony to enjoy it from.. Watching the birds dart, swoop and soar over the gorge - an eagle plus a myriad of martins and swallows - was an added joy.
Our room was fine, spacious enough, though the orange bedspread was a sight for sore eyes. That said, bed very comfortable. A fan, but no a/c, and internet strength was ordinary to say the least. Good-sized bathroom. And it was all very reasonably priced.
Breakfast was OK, a glass of OJ, coffee, a croissant, a bread roll with cheese, ham, butter and jams. Management struggles with English, if that is a concern.
