Great getaway

This is a great option to stay in Lagos. Individual villas with different configuration rooms give it a lot of individualistic charm. It’s away from the busier part of town but near the beaches. The breakfast is fabulous and at other times the kitchen makes a version of snack pizzas that are divine and almost make up for the doorless bathrooms. Yes that’s right bathrooms without doors, which i don’t care how modern the decor is not practical, convenient or comfortable. The only down side to the place
Near beaches and fantastic breakfast!

Located within walking distance of two magniificent beaches, spectacular Porta de Piedade, and the charming Old City of Lagos, this comfortable hotel has 4-5 pools, large bedrooms, a small gym, and an overwhelming, delightful, breakfast feast which included delicious octopus, tasty sardines, every type of bread and rolls, various cakes, meats, assorted cheeses, fruits, pudding, olives, eggs, sausage, figs, dates, yogurts (try the fig and cinnamon), coffee, hot chocolate, teas, and several fresh juices. Heaven! We stayed a few days but could have stayed a week. Daniela was so friendly and helpful during our entire stay. She answered every question with patience and concern. This place was the favorite part of our Portugal trip. Enjoy your stay!
Comfortable, Clean, Relaxing.

Overall the hotel was excellent and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful although I wasn't advised of the possibility of having a kettle in my room until I was checking out and the possibility of emptying the fridge to store milk etc.
Most guests were German and the breakfast had an excellent array of meats and cheeses, Continental Style apart from the usual cereals, fruit etc but not a full English Breakfast as we were expecting. In a region that grows and exports orange juice the orange juice at breakfast was a poor supermarket quality. A pity.
Overall thoroughly enjoyable experience nevertheless and peaceful and tranquil.
A beautiful unique setting, thoroughly enjoyable!

We thoroughly enjoyed Lagos and Costa D’Oiro Ambiance Village during our Oct 1-7 2017 stay. We were given fantastic service even before we arrived – I was communicating with Miguel through the B-Guest app (you will receive an email with a link for pre-check in the week prior to arrival). Anyway I was messaging with Miguel to give our room and location preferences. We unfortunately missed our connecting flight from Lisbon to Faro, and had to take a much later flight. I called the hotel, they were happy to accommodate the late 2am check in, AND really saved us by arranging the transfer from the airport to hotel at last minute. The other transfer we had pre-arranged couldn’t provide a car that late. On arrival at 2 am, Miguel drove us to our room – although a short walk it wouldn’t have been reasonable to tote our luggage on foot. TIP: Allow ample time to get through passport control in Lisbon – it took us 2 hours. Note that you need to go through passport control on entry to AND exit from Lisbon.
THE ROOM: We had a one bedroom apartment with a walk out to the pool. We had 2 sliding glass doors, one from the living room and one from the bedroom, and our own little patio area with table and chairs. The lounge chairs around the pool are shared with other guests, but there really were not many people there at any given time. 2-4 usually, and everyone respected each other’s privacy. It was a very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. I think there were 6-7 rooms in the villa we stayed in. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable, cleaned each day by the friendly housekeeper Dana.
THE RESORT: The resort is made up of 4-5 villas, each with a pool, but they are not all together on one property. They are spread over a small area of town. It was quite charming. We had a 5-10 minute walk along the pretty cobblestone street to the main villa where the breakfast buffet was. Along the way there was a small convenience store where we bought wine, beer, fruit, and snacks to take to our apartment. Also along the way was a cozy little bar/restaurant that we visited several times. We were just a 5 minute walk from the Praia D. Ana beach, 10 minute walk from Praia do Camilo beach, and 10 minute walk from downtown Lagos. We felt very safe walking everywhere, even at night. Note there are derelict buildings around, not sure the history, they look like hotels or apartments that were maybe partially built then abandoned. You get used to them after a while and don't really notice. It does not detract from the experience or the safety. TIP: Bring thick soled shoes for walking, the cobblestones can be uncomfortable in flip flops.
THE FOOD: The breakfast buffet at the hotel was wonderful and was included with our room. You can choose to eat outside at the poolside tables or inside. They offered a nice selection of food, great coffee, and mimosas. We had dinner at the hotel once, it was very good but only had a couple of choices which I think they change daily. During the day we had lunches and cool beers at the open air restaurants that are prevalent everywhere. You’ll find them on the walk to town, and all over town. As well there is a casual restaurant/bar at the Praia D. Ana beach. Praia do Camilo has a fantastic restaurant called El Camilo, it is up top (not down at beach level). It was so good we went there twice. Reservations are a must. Just around the corner from our villa, less than 5 minute walk, was a great restaurant called Ondo Norte. Great selection, atmosphere, and quality. Reservations are a must here as well.
THE BEACHES: Praia D. Ana is a large beach that you access down a 94 step stairway. It is not terribly steep, not a difficult climb back up. They have beach chairs with shades for rent for 13 euros or you can just lay a towel on the sand. Picturesque, surrounded by cliffs with large rock formations on the beach and in the water. Praia do Camilo beach is smaller but breathtaking. It is a much steeper climb, 246 steps. You need to take your time climbing back up, there are landings along the way with benches where you can rest. There is a small cave off the beach, and an interesting rock formation with an arch in the middle, right in the water. As well there are beaches in downtown Lagos that stretch for miles.
THE TOWN: Lagos is a quaint pretty town with narrow cobblestone streets, very old buildings, sidewalk cafes everywhere, and lots of interesting shops. There is a river/waterway running along the bottom edge, across which is the marina. Along the edge is a wide walkway with market stalls selling all kinds of merchandise, as well as booths where you can sign up for water trips – grotto, dolphins, etc.
THE WEATHER: Fantastic. We were not prepared for how warm it would be. I’m not sure if it was an exception but it averaged ~27-28 celsius for the week. There was a bit of humidity but not bad. The sky was the bluest we have ever seen … consistently. We didn’t see even a wisp of a cloud the entire week.
I hope this review helps fellow travellers – Lagos and Costa D’Oiro are highly recommended!

This is a really lovely hotel in quite a unique garden setting close to the beautiful Praia de Dona Ana beach but far enough away from everything that we had an exceptional sleep! Our room was clean and spacious, with a great shower and both a private balcony and a roof terrace shared between two rooms. Breakfast was delicious, varied and fresh and a glass of cold Cava meant that we sat and relaxed for far longer than we would normally! Really close to Ponta da Piedade too which was breathtaking at sunset! A perfect hotel if you want to relax, eat great food and have the best sleep!
