Had a great stay here . Loved the feather duvets. The staff were so friendly and food very good. Lovely cozy bar were we ate most nights. It’s the first time we have stayed in a smaller hotel and not one of the larger chain hotels. It was a real treat. We were sad to leave!
A great find

My friends and I needed a hotel to stay in which was not going to break the bank and not too far from Cardiff.
I found the Angel Hotel online, initially I booked because of the great price and that we could also fit in 1 room.
We went with no real expectations.
The young man on the bar welcomed us warmly, he was friendly and attentive, a real asset to the hotel.
The lady on reception was great with us too, warm, helpful and courteous.
The room itself was so lovely, the main bedroom had a four poster bed with floor to ceiling windows which opened on to a small terrace.
A second bedroom with two single beds, and a spotlessly clean bathroom.
The room was spacious, comfortable and homely.
The breakfast the next morning was served in the restaurant. It had all locally sourced ingredients, a menu with lots to choose from and absolutely delicious.
The Angel Hotel is great value for the money, the family deluxe room is lovely and the staff are fantastic.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend unreservedly to anyone needing a room.
What a great find!

Booked last minute and so pleased we picked The Angel. The staff were all polite and friendly. Our room was big with a four poster, sunshine streaming through the windows and a view over the village square. We enjoyed beautifully poached eggs on toast for breakfast with good quality tea and coffee. The main bar is traditional and comfortable and there were quieter seating areas in the dining room. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.
Not what I expected

Stayed here in July 2017 as part of a trip travelling around Wales/Wye Valley for my birthday. We parked near the co-op for free and wasn't far from the hotel which was good. We walked it with all our luggage into a pub, which was a bit daunting, saw there was a door next to the bar for the hotel and tried to get in, but it was locked, we stood there for a while until we caught someones attention at the bar and they let us through the door. We checked in and went to our room. It was really hard to get into the room as the key was very tempermental and dodnt fit well. It was a reasonably large room but looked a little worn. Bed was comfortable. We went for breakfast which had a good selection and good service from staff. Food was very good although was ruined by someone spraying polish around the bar which came into the breakfast room and all I could taste was that. We then rushed to check out as we didnt realise check out was really early at 10am, we didn't have time for showers or anything. We then went to check out and were stood at the hotel reception for a while (no way to get anyones attention) then I decided to go to the breakfast room to see how we checked out, the owner just said oh leave your key on the bar and that was it. No questions of how was yoir stay ect. Summary: Good size room. Good breakfast. Would be good to have a seperate entrance to hotel or buzzer to get attention. Don't clean the bar when people are eating breakfast, or shut the doors. Better check out service.
A very nice eatery, and well respected in and around Abergavenny.

We've been several times for Sunday lunch, and for Afternoon Tea. It is a real treat. We have had no need to stay here as we live locally, but as a Restaurant, I can highly recommend it. Price-wise I would say mid to high, but not luxury.
