Mark Con 17/11/2017 17:06I travel to Altoona and throughout central PA and almost always make this warm, welcoming hotel my base of operations. There are other and newer lodging choices in the market, but based on my experience, none can match the consistency and quality of service, the great location, on-site amenities and---most of all, the professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail/customer satisfaction of the staff.
I have stayed in many of the rooms and based on my experience, there is not a bad room in the house. The back side of the property has an unexpectedly nice view overlooking the hilly nearby village, which is pretty in all seasons. I have also used the work-out room, pool and business center on my longer visits. The bedding is excellent and both sides of the property are quiet and offer a good sleep environment.
While there are many nearby, restaurants nearby, it is always nice to have the option of checking in and simply heading downstairs to the Bistro, for a cocktail, or light dinner. All of the servers are extremely attentive and friendly. I have met a wide variety of very nice business travelers there, networked, shared stories and a laugh, or two.
The best feature of this hotel, by far, is the management/sales/front desk/bistro staff. They always treat me and all their guests, "like family." I can count on arriving to a warm welcome, which feels like I'm "coming home," or a friendly send off in the morning to start my day.

I would say the bathroom would need a little more maintenance as the bath tub seemed a little rusted
The AC is good but it is very loud and it seems to have come from a previous century.
Love the dresser area and most of all loved that the washroom basin is outside the actual bathroom

Brian Gon 01/08/2017 23:47Tons of little things in the room needed updated or fixed. All little but still. Outlets that were broken and loose to a shower needing grout to a tv that the front desk had to help reset. I would choose another option although the convention center is attached.
