Kinda cheesy, good for a single visit. Won't be going back.

Went here with the wife for a weekend without the kids. Plus I'd always heard about the heart shaped tubs. We stayed in the Juliette Suite. Overall it was okay but just that, okay. Go if you can get a good deal on all inclusive. If you go Ala Carte you will feel ripped off.
Positives:
Heart shaped tubs
Wood burning fireplace
Round bed with good mattress
Mirrored bed room
Negatives:
Dated decor and photos of entertainers from 70s and 80s
Feels like a retirement community/ couples retreat
Visible mold and mildew in carpet near Tub
Peeling wallpaper
Stains on carpet
Slow housekeeping
Food was average buffet, many of the items cold. I actually asked the server to microwave my plate
Very Romantic

A cute resort for couples of all ages. The restaurant and bars are amazing. The staff is welcoming. The room definitely takes you to a relaxing place. There is a little living room set up that you can sit by the fire. A romantic circle bed and star lights in the ceiling. The bathroom is huge and the heart tub is the place to be. There are a lot of pools to enjoy and activities to enjoy. There is an amazing view of the lake as well.
Romance and more

Booking- I saw a deal on groupon and called the hotel to find out the cost of breakfast and dinner, so I could decide between all inclusive or room only. Cindy said if I planned to dine there all inclusive was the way to go. She asked about my dates and I said I was on the website and saw rates already. She explained that many times there were better offers when you call in and guess what, it was better than Groupon and what I saw on their site for non-refundable (usually the best deal). So I booked with a $100 deposit that was still flexible if something came up.
Stay- we took the short line from port authority and the "love machine" picked us up in about ten minutes. A complimentary service. We stepped into our champagne tower and was better than pictures. It was clean and well maintained. The reviews I read were immediately called into question. This may be a place from the 70's but there is no possible way they could remain in such wonderful shape if not well maintained. Lobster and steak dinner was great on Saturday night and our server helped my other half out letting him know he could substitute the lobster tail and try other things. It was very filling and the live piano was so romantic. Buffet dinner the next evening had a nice variety. Buffet breakfast was good but the made to order breakfast was great. We did wait a while to get our made to order breakfast. I think a light cake for dessert would be a good idea because not everyone likes chocolate cake.
Activities- we played 5 games of pool on our second night and went to the arcade n mini golf the morning of checkout. We stayed in our room most of the time. There are many activities but we wanted to enjoy our room.
Staff-everyone single person we encountered was friendly and helpful. The staff were amazing. Love is definitely in the air at this resort and the employees are apart of that.
This was a birthday gift and according to the recipient "the best birthday ever". We were already talking about coming back the first night just because of the champagne tower, and now only a few days later are seriously thinking about the next occasion we could stay.
Don't believe those reviews!! Sure I didn't stay in every room, sure I didn't do every activity, but every interaction was a pleasant one. If you've been lacking alone time because of children or work, this is the place for you. Everyone is focused on Love including the staff
Needs major upgrades and renovations

My husband and I were gifted a weekend getaway in the Champagne Tower Suites at Cove Haven. We were looking forward to our time away but were a little worried when seeing some prior reviews. We went knowing the place was in need of some updates and we realized that the décor was something out of a 70's movie but we were determined to make the most our getaway.
We arrived earlier than check-in time but knew if the room wasn't ready we could spend some time exploring the grounds. Much to our surprise our room was ready ahead of time and the front desk clerks were very helpful and kind. We went to our room (706) and upon entering we were hit with a musty smell. As we looked around we noticed the couch was ripped and it looked like something that was taken out of a dump. Upon further inspection my husband noticed that the roof must have leaked at one time and that the ceiling tile was discolored and moldy. You could clearly see the walls were discolored and could see the mold marks where the 2x4's were. The mirror in the bathroom was atrocious.
My husband decided to call the gal who helped make all the arrangements (she was super nice by the way) and she insisted that they get us another room. We repacked all our things and were moved to the other side of the resort to room (733). This room was much better than the other but it was still not great. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom did not work properly and was in severe need of maintenance. Some ceiling tile were still discolored and questionable. There was a hole behind the bed and they just used painters tape to cover it up. In the bathroom the wallpaper covered the missing plaster. The steam shower did not work. You could tell the rooms were in need of some major TLC as some things just are worn after years of use. Much of the same things we noticed in the room repeated itself throughout the other areas of the resort.
While we were gifted this weekend- we would have felt very shafted paying 5 star prices for what amounts to a budget hotel. Honestly I feel guilty that the people that gifted this to us spent all that money and we feel like we owe them money back cause they did not get their money's worth.
On a positive note- the staff was very nice and accommodating, Mark the bartender at Spooners was awesome. The food was very good and there was much to choose from. Housekeeping was on top of our requests for towels etc and actually contacted us to see if there was anything we needed when she saw the card in the door stating we did not need service. The deer were the highlight of our trip as they will come up and eat out of your hand.
We have no doubt that back in the day- this resort was top of the line. However its very apparent that the money that is being made at the resort is not being put where it should- in upgrading the rooms and facilities. Our hope is that the management would take some of these reviews and pour some thought, time and effort into resolving these issues. With some time and effort this resort has some great potential to be a place the people would want to revisit.
A nice time with one big flaw

My partner and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We knew it had been the pinnacle of romantic getaways in the 70s and reading reviews, they were all over the map, but we decided to check it for ourselves. If you visit and expect a renovated, modern, up-to-date resort, you will be sorely disappointed, but if you remember that this was *THE* place to go 40 years ago, and keep that in mind, it's a quaint little resort. We arrived after the stated check-in time (3:30pm), and our room was not ready, but the front desk said they would call us as soon as it was. We went to the indoor sports zone while we waited, which was nicely equipped with arcade games as well as indoor archery and tennis and racquetball courts We decided to grab a drink at Spooners Bar, and the bartender on staff was very friendly and courteous. It was about 5pm at that point, and he called the front desk to check on our room. It was ready, so we got the keys and headed over. It was a little frustrating we didn't receive a phone call, especially getting so close to dinner. My partner had reserved us a Cove Fantasy Suite, so we went to the block of rooms and got settled in. The decor looks probably exactly the same as it did in the 70s, which we expected - lavender paint on doors, scalloped wallpaper - but the most surprising part was a toilet that looked like it came from a public restroom (with a metal flush lever and all).
We changed and went to dinner, which was Steak and Lobster night. The food was as expected - nothing over the top, but not bad. The soup we had tasted like it was cooked without seasoning, but that was easily fixable. The wait staff was friendly and we were full at the end of the meal. Later on, we went to the champagne lounge to see the band that was playing. The waitress remembered our drink orders from dinner, which was a nice touch. The band was good, and we left halfway through the comedian that followed. We took a dip in the pool which was nicely heated, then went to bed. The bed was comfortable and we were amused by the twinkling starlights overhead.
The breakfast buffet in the morning was your normal fare, however the eggs had the same problem that the soup from the previous night had - no seasoning! But the same friendly staff. The coffee tasted slightly burnt, but we were also on the later side to breakfast, so it had likely been sitting. The housekeeping staff called to check if we wanted them to stop by, since we had the "do not disturb" sign on, which I though was a nice touch. We had a very pleasant massage in the spa/fitness center building, and then tried out the indoor archery target range. We had a great time trying that! My only complaint was the small number of arrows - when another couple arrived, we were using only 5 arrows each. Dinner that night was a buffet, which was actually quite good. Our waitress was not as great that night, we didn't receive a refill on cold water, or hot water for tea (we didn't see her again after she brought our drinks).
Now, this is the part with the biggest problem. After dinner, we cuddled in to drink some wine, light a fire, and relax with some TV and a dip in the heart-shaped jacuzzi. Before we lit the fire, my partner checked the chimney to make sure the flue was open, but was unable to see all the way to the top ("coated in soot and dirt - probably hasn't been cleaned since the 70s). But we put a duraflame log on anyway. We first had a difficult time trying to get the smoke to go up the chimney, though it seemed to work itself out - until 40 or so minutes later when my partner exclaimed "holy ****, the room is filling up with smoke!" Sure enough, the whole room was filled with smoke - and the smoke detector above the door DID NOT go off! We aired the room out, and sat outside in the damp cold weather waiting for the room to air out and the fire to smolder. The we made our way to the front desk, to ask for a carbon monoxide detector. They did not have one, and the front desk staff offered us an upgraded room (which was fine, but not helpful if we have CO poisoning). We tried to find a convenience store that was open to get our own, but in that area, not much is open past 9. On returning to our room, it still smelled heavily of smoke, so we decided to take the upgraded room, though inconvenient to have to pack. The front desk staff was courteous enough to send the new keys with the bus driver so we didn't need to go back for them, which we greatly appreciated.
We moved to a champagne tower suite, which was a larger room with more features. We chose to not use the L-shaped couch in the living room area because it seemed to have bodily fluid stains on the cushions. We didn't set another fire, but we did notice that the smoke detector in this room didn't work either! (This happening in 2 rooms means it is likely the same in all rooms. This is a serious safety violation.) The champagne hot tub was fun, and more comfortable than expected. The bed was comfortable again, however the pillows didn't seem as fluffy, and being just above the pool made it hard to regulate the temperature. Breakfast the next morning had a continental fare which was okay - nothing out of the ordinary - as well as plated options. Our waitress was very friendly and the coffee was much better!
Overall, the trip was pleasant, aside from the smoke issue and lack of working smoke detectors. We may return again in warmer months, to try some of the outdoor activities - but will be bringing our own smoke detector and CO monitor!
