Cramped
Joseph Gon 20/08/2017 16:25The beds were comfortable but the rooms are too small and poorly designed. Hardly any open surfaces to leave stuff on. There wasn't even a single electrical outlet in a convenient location. To charge my phone, I had to move the night table and unplug the clock. Even the parking spaces are too narrow, and the lot was undersized. Felt cramped the whole time. Would not stay here again.
No longer the Travelodge
apteryx055on 12/08/2017 00:40Apparently this was the Travelodge but is now called the Redwood Inn. It's an older-style motel that is just OK to stay in. Room was large and clean, but the carpet is well past needing replacement. Beds are new and comfortable. Good shower. Good wifi. No air conditioning. Located on a bare block between the northbound and southbound 101, next to the Taco Bell drive through, so not quiet. Friendly staff. Ok for a stopover.
This is now the Redwood Inn
Sandra Kon 14/07/2017 17:46Just changed hands but the new owner is trying very hard to get things right. Motels are ridden hard and often put away wet so to speak. Looking forward to a return trip. You can walk to Wing Wah Restaurant, Safeway and McDonalds in on block. You are here for a clean bed and accommodations and that is what you get...get outside and explore the city and the ocean.
Overnight midway through our trip
lisharnon 27/06/2017 18:24We needed a room for the night. Nothing fancy and nothing fancy was what we got. $90 a night for 2 queen beds. Room was clean and not too dated. Shower was warm and bed was comfortable. We missed the breakfast as it finished at 9.
Great price
Julie Hon 17/06/2017 17:58This is now called the Redwood Inn. We had reservations at the Americas Best Value, but they were so rude there, we left. Luckily they had rooms here, at the Redwood Inn. (It's a busy weekend, and everyehere is full). We were pulling a uhaul trailer, and they accommodated us. Even came out to help direct parking. Super nice.
We were on the back side, so we could see the trailer. They share a parking lot with Taco Bell. I mean, a 10 second walk over, we were suprised, even with the window open, you couldn't hear the drive through. You do hear traffic on the road. But nothing major.
Directly across the street is a Safeway and McDonalds. On the other side, chinese food, pizza, all kinds of places to eat. This is really a prime spot for things within walking distance.
Now, for the room. It's small. Cozy. For 1 night, we don't need a ton of space. Shower has great pressure. Stayed hot for 2 showers. Nice size TV. Cable and HBO! Mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Even a hair dryer. These things are far and few in motel rooms these days.
My number 1 thing I look for in rooms is cobwebs and spiders. I can't! Ugh. But, this room had none! Thank goodness! Had a table and 2 chairs for meals. Tons of hangers in the closet.
My only complaints, really, is the room is SO hot! I know most motels on the coast don't have air conditioners. And I'm cool with that. I travel with a fan, because I get super hot. Maybe for others, if they put fans in the room, would be a nice touch. And the bed is a bit hard for my taste. Totally not the hotels fault. It's a matter of opinion. Some like firm. Some like soft.
All in all, nice stay. If we pass through again, we would definitely stay here.
