Whether for business or recreation, The Crown Plaza is ideal. Location excellent for public transport...trains, trams, or for car access off the freeways. And also excellent location for Southbank, Docklands or the City. You should be able to find an economical price and the rooms while not new are certainly clean and with great views, whichever side of the hotel you are.

Down for a couple of days for the Spring Carnival, stayed at the hotels as a guest of a company I deal with. I found the hotel and its facilities very good, while the bathroom was in need of refurbishment it was made up for by the excellent staff throughout the property from check in to housekeeping and everywhere in between. I did not come across any staff that weren't 100% efficient which is a rare thing these days.

Stayed for two nights in May 2017, the location is good on the sides of Yarra River and near docklands area. The check in check out was quick and the room was spacious, the Wi-Fi speed was also good. The breakfast could have more options. The Hotel is around 30 minutes from the airport by cab which is around 30-35 dollars. The rooms have views of the Yarra River and the city on the other side. There are enough restaurants on the street – Bourke Street which normally are open till 10 pm. Did not had any major inadmissible things noted at the hotel.

As the title says this place cannot be beat with the amazing view of the river and the magnificent city skyline. “See the picture of the view I attached to this post.” There is also a tram stop right in front of the hotel which made the hotel location super convenient.
The hotel might need some TLC but it is worth giving it a shot.

I stayed 2nites at Crowne and must say was apprehensive that it might be too far from the main city area but this was uncalled for as the tram stop (within Free city travel) is just infront of the hotel and Crowne Casino Just next door. A taxi from Melbourne international airport to hotel costs me $72 and my colleague recommended taking the skybus which had dedicated road lanes and Free WiFi onboard to the airport at around $20 the next time. I almost did for the return trip as the Southern Cross Train and bus station was just up the street from the hotel (one tram stop away) where you wud catch the skybus. Ok back to the hotel. Place looks rather oldish but adequately clean and efficient. Lobby was on a lower floor but u had to take an escalator to the lift lobby for rooms. Which was rather cumbersome however they did provide a small lift for between these 2floors for those in wheelchairs or big luggage’s. Rooms were spacious and clean but no free drink water. Toiletries were less than basic (shampoo n shower gel and soap) but u could go to concierge for toothbrush or shaver if u needed them as these were not in room. There was an iron and safe in the room. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good with full or continental options. Lobby had cold drinking water and Free apples everyday. Overall I think it’s pleasant stay but quite expensive and I think One can get a better location hotel at lower price.
