Frequently, all I need in a hotel is a clean, quiet place near the airport for a single night. If that's what you need, this is the place to go, at least for the next few months.
I got the Crown Plaza on Priceline for less than the cost of a Motel 6! Most bargains involve compromise, and this is no different. I found the lobby area was being completely renovated. (Though I would choose the Crown Plaza again, the fact that Priceline didn't mention this made me feel that Priceline 'worked' me a little.)
Yes, the revised entrance is somewhat disruptive when entering and exiting the hotel. But NO, it does not negatively affect you once the elevator doors close. My room was clean and vault-quiet. (Which is pretty surprising, considering I could actually SEE the SAT runway from my room). Everyone has different tolerances and peeves. The price I got on the property was MORE than worth the minor inconvenience. You may be different. But it was a bargain for me. I think If I was staying for more than two or three days, it might be a different story. On the plus side, the place isn't crowded.
The staff made a HUGE difference. To say that they were helpful and courteous would be a major understatement.. I felt like I was in a B&B. I checked out and asked for a ride to the airport (complimentary). In conversation, I mentioned that I was hungry and didn't want to grab an Uber for breakfast and would see what I could find at the airport.
Nothing doing! Derek, the desk manager and Diane the driver, insisted on driving me to a nearby restaurant and picking me back up after I ate. But wait, it doesn't stop there! Diane got out of the van at the restaurant, talked to the hostess and ensured that I got a particularly good server. This was the kind of stay where I hugged the driver at the airport instead of just tipping them.
The rooms need design updating, but the air conditioning was strong, the TV had a million channels, there was coffee, a microwave and a fridge, and the property is five minutes from SAT. If you don't take yourself too seriously, you can't help but be happy with the situation.

I stayed at this hotel for a single night for business travel. The hotel provides a shuttle from the airport. However, the shuttle doesn't circulate, so you need to call them when you arrive.
Arriving late, I had at the hotel restaurant, which I don't often do. The meal was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. A very courteous and helpful front desk. I mentioned that I was a Crowne Plaza club member, but didn't have my account number. By the time I reached my room, he had found my account and given me credit for my stay.

Hotel is dated.....needs an update. Not impressed with the rooms.....not impressed with the service. Restaurant staff acted as if we were bothering them. The only satisfactory service was the shuttle to the airport.

I work for an airline, and because we were on a shorter overnight, the company moved us to an airport hotel instead of going downtown. We waited over 30 minutes for a van to pick us up from the airport, even though the drive back to the airport was less than a 10 min drive. The lobby is set up temporarily inside the entry door and the first impression is that it is an old property. Getting off of the elevator on the 5th floor, you notice old, stained and tattered carpet, room doors with stains and chipped wood, and a general worn out look. The room was old and dated, with tattered and stained carpet, holes patched but not painted, a small corner desk barely hanging on, a tub that didn't drain properly, and more, but just old. Got some sleep and got back out of there. This property is not worthy of the Crowne Plaza name.

Stayed at the hotel for a conference and first thing I noticed was the great attitude of the staff. They were friendly and genuinely cared that my stay was a great experience. Hotel was quiet and the room was clean. The hotel is a little old but they do keep it neat and clean. Overall, very enjoyable stay.
