Book well ahead!

I have still not succeeded at staying here but eaten in the restaurant on a trip in October 2011 and again October 20017. The hotel has great character and the restaurant offers great food & service at a reasonable cost. It's a family run hotel and all the staff very pleasant, helpful & efficient. Highly recommended! No surprise you need to book well ahead to get a room.
Comfortable hotel. Great Restaurant.

Travelling from St Malo to Brussels we opted for an overnight stop in Albert staying at the Hotel de la Basilique. The hotel staff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Each room has en suite and several rooms have a small balcony overlooking the town square and the Basilica. There is lots muted free street parking immediately in front of the museum and other free spaces within 50 metres. The breakfast, an additional 9 Euros per person, is filling and good value. I thoroughly recommend the hotel restaurant for lunch or dinner. We had rabbit & prunes and sliced duck breast with cherries - both were delicious. The accompanying bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape was perfect and worth every Euro. The desserts were very good too. This is a very good 2 Star hotel with a 4 Star restaurant but not at 4 Star prices. I recommend both the hotel and restaurant to you.
Somme battle visit

Seven of us stayed here for two nights, eating in the restaurant both evenings. The staff were really friendly and helpful, including contacting us after we had left to tell us we had left a necklace behind, and arranged for us to pick it up when we were travelling back through Albert on the Monday when they were closed. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food in the evening and breakfasts excellent. This is a very good place for a tour of the Somme. There is free parking around the corner from the hotel. We also had bikes which they allowed us to leave securely in their garden.
Mum's birthday treat

Mum has always wanted to visit the Somme so I booked this hotel as its in the heart of the battlefields. It is quaint, clean and very friendly. The staff are warm and welcoming. The food is superb. Even though Mum has limited mobility she managed the stairs which would be my only tiny negative. Well worth a stay x
A quirk of small French towns is that in low season (April apparently) they have a rota of who stays open and who closes

Although staying in the IBIS, Albert (24 of us!) their restaurant was closed on our second night so we dined at the Basilique where I have been many times before .
We had pre-ordered which makes life easier for them and quicker service for us and they produced a superb evening for us.
Dishes ranging from Duck, Fois Gras, Entrecote steak, lamb, rabbit, filet de boef - all very good with excellent service.
A really good evening.
