Great historic hotel

We were only here for a pre night cruise embarkation. Worth every penny. Spacious room, friendly front desk greeting, lovely breakfast. We had time to visit the Fort and we can walk to the port. How cool is that!
Perfect for a night before a cruise

While the hotel could use a little spiffing up, the price was right, and it was very close to the port. The staff was very helpful, while the rooms were a little worn. However, they gave me what amounts to the penthouse suite, so the view was incredible, and I could walk out onto the roof to enjoy the view and the weather. The location is perfect for a pre- or post-cruise stay. You really need to take a taxi to the embarkation point, because walking isn't really feasible. They arranged a taxi for me for 20 euros, which is what we paid the last time we were there to get from the train station (which is right down the street) to the port. I would also suggest taking their breakfast; the food was very good and I didn't have to go wandering around trying to find a place to eat.
3 night before Cruise

This Hotel could use a little upgrading without giving up its charm, large comfortable rooms, we enjoyed 3rd floor corner room with 2 large windows w a great view of arriving cruise ships. WiFi only worked in front of the door inside our room so had to move a chair there to get anything done, breakfast was OK. Would have appreciated more hot food, when we did get some, they hadn’t bothered to attempt to keep it warm. The location is perfect if travelling by train for your cruise. I’ve heard there are less expensive places along this street so will check others for our next visit.
Pre and post cruise stay.

Pre cruise - okay. Family suite, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Suited our two senior couples. Average rooms, breakfast fine, nice staff in breakfast room. Post cruise a disaster in terms of charging. We changed to GEranium suite and Sunflower suite, quoted €70 per room, per night. GReat. We were likely quoted that as we stated we would move to a different hote. Should have got specifics signed and detailed. Our fault there, but BUYER BEWARE !!! Actually charged €185 per room, per night. Despite being shown details of quote, front desk denied all knowledge of staff person or quote. Tried to charge us for transit from FCO - we had a rental car! What a SCAM !! Even the website quotes €117 per night. Great location, rooms average, hotel needs reno. Notice shows lunch and dinner times for the restaurant, but those meals are from cruise staff only. VERY misleading.
Renovate

I stayed at this Hotel on the 9th of Oct 2017 for an overnight stay until my flight to the US. This hotel is in need of serious renovations. It is old and the rooms have no air condition. It smells and the bathrooms are outdated. This hotel needs to put screens on their windows if they are not going to fix the air conditioner. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Trip advisor should take them off because this is a dump. I will never stay here again.
