What People are saying

Great location!

Holidaymakers88 on 18/11/2017 18:42

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Devonport House. The staff were friendly and efficient and especially professional and helpful during very busy breakfast times.
Our room was very well designed and clean. The furniture and colours were very tasteful. It was wonderful to have curtains that hung properly and worked! The hotel is very well placed to access all the major attractions in Greenwich.
There were a few minor points for improvement- mound starting to form on parts of the mastic in the bathroom, a mark on the armchair and the lining paper in one corner of the room requiring a bit of attention. However, these are comments to intervene before the situation becomes a problem and would in no way prevent us returning. Thankyou for a lovely stay and great value for money using a Super Break deal.

Excellent training venue

Cathy S on 17/11/2017 09:02

My company deliver a lot of workshops at this venue and Kevin Smith and his team work endlessly to ensure my team are able to give our delegates the best experience possible.

The training rooms have a warm, welcoming feel and the facilities made available are excellent.

I can’t praise the team there highly enough. There is always someone on hand to offer technical or logistical support and it’s always done with a smile.

Kevin, David, all - thank you. You never fail to go the extra mile and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Great base for a London stay

MikeC_2006 on 13/11/2017 20:23

Hotels in central London tend to be very expensive and not particularly good value for money,
Greenwich, however, is not far at all from central London (20-30 mins by tube and Docklands Light Railway), and is a lovely base for a London visit. Plenty of nice places to eat and drink in the town, and lovely walks along the Thames Path.
The hotel was just perfect for a night away. Very welcoming and helpful staff, quiet and comfortable room, great shower. Excellent breakfast, with a good cold and hot buffet selection.
You could pay a lot more, and get a lot less, for a decent hotel in central London. And when you stay in Greenwich you get the advantage of lovely walks in Greenwich Park, the maritime museum, the lovely town of Greenwich itself, etc.
Will definitely consider this hotel for my next London trip!

Booking of 67 rooms for a conference

kmerryman on 13/11/2017 10:12

Firstly, a big public thank you to Kevin and the excellent team at Devonport House for all their help with our conference. We had 108 people at our highest with 27 different countries represented so quite a challenge. The team at the hotel were all wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for them so a big big thank you to the whole team.

The hotel is in a lovely location with good transport links and on a sunny day it shows London at its finest.

The conference facilities although not 5 star, they do the job well. We used the Westminster suite for our 2 day conference. If your event requires attentive luxury with table cloths, glasses, china cups I would recommend a different hotel but if you are happy with a coffee machine, paper cups, water machines and homely surroundings then do take a look.

In terms of the hotel the food in the event suite, restaurant and bar was really nice and again the staff most attentive.

The bedrooms do need attention they are tired. I was in 120, I had a rip in my carpet, my shower screen did not close properly and I also had the horrid external spotlights shining in my bedroom window for over a week (despite the curtains and the blinds!) It was like sleeping in constant daylight. The windows at the front of the hotel are also poorly fitting (I guess they are old to match the building) but it can be a bit cold (secondary glazing would help!!)

They have a key card system to enter the lift and the corridors. I appreciate the security but after 2 days in the hotel it really drives you mad every time you try to go anywhere! If you have full hands and luggage it is terrible and not a great welcome to you as a guest.

All in all a good conference location with good links to the City and a lovely team but they do need to sort out some of the bedroom issues.

A tad dissapointing

Fitzmuncle on 12/11/2017 14:19

A fab location. The bar staff made extremely hard work of everything and I found it disconcerting that such a large hotel chain and no large bottles of mineral water or Bombay Sapphire. Also really didn’t want to have to listen to the thumping base from a party in the function room. Perhaps put guests that aren’t attending away from this area so they don’t have to listen to it.

Interior needs some love and curtains needed washing !
