Excellent ,clean ,parking gardens bar ,restaurant,staff could not fault ,country house quiet off the beaten track not much nearby
The nags head nearest pub 5 min drive away ,not for the nightlife people

We stayed at the Gorse Hill hotel to enjoy a family stay away with a baby. It was my partners first birthday since being a Mum and we were looking forward to peace. We arrived to a hotel overrun by a wedding. We were not made aware of this. We could not sit in the garden or use any of the facilities. They then had music banging out until midnight. We complained on several occasions as it was keeping the baby awake, especially with shouting guests in the courtyard. We were also encouraged to eat with a baby in the bar which had music at the same level as a nightclub. During our stay, three staff were told to ask the general manager to give us a call. He never made contact. A week later I called to check why and he explained he was not even aware but agreed that the hotel is like a 'discotech' during a wedding. He agreed to look into it and call me back. We rang back in 4 hours and he had not looked into it. He had offered a refund but Mario (head of reception) didn't even know our names to refund the amount. It was very poor service. We are now over a week later and the hotel have still not refunded. I am shocked how bad they are dealing with this especially as they are aware my partner was in tears the day after her birthday due to the crying baby and the stay.

I travel a lot with business and was looking forward to my stay at The Gorse Hotel. Arrived at a very grand looking hotel, not easy to find reception which is tucked away in a corner. I had already booked bed breakfast and a supplement for evening meal - however when I checked in, this was not included (just the room ). However once in my room I found my original booking which clearly showed everything included. Having gone back to reception this was updated (although we shall see in the morning when I go and check out!!)
Had a bar meal burger and chips at £13.50. I asked for ketchup and salt and pepper which never materialised.... despite the hotel being very quiet......
Room clean but very small...
Would I stay again? Probably not.....

Stayed for one night, room was ok, bit tired! Enamel chipped on the bath. Furniture too big for the room, and bed not big enough. Our room was over the main entrance and very noisy, mainly due to the wedding party going on. Wouldn't stay again from choice!

Great venue for a wedding..especially if you have hot sunny weather like we did...wedding breakfast food was some of the best bulk catered food I have had. We stayed over which I definitely wouldn't do again...room was poor...4ft bed not acceptable these days...tatty room with a poor shower and rusted bath..not 4 star...overall as a wedding venue 4 stars... as a hotel to stay at 2 stars
