What People are saying

Nice room, great new Atlas restaurant, but casino dominates

Marcus L on 05/11/2017 18:08

Nice, good sized room with plenty of space, decorated in a modern style with everything you'd need to relax and work in. Bathroom was smaller but OK to use. Very quiet room and fabulously comfortable bed and bedding made for a good nice's sleep.

The brand new Atlas Steak & Fish restaurant had it's very first night of opening the night we ate there and had really good, fresh food, including wonderful fish. Highly recommended restaurant.

The rest of the hotel felt like a bit of an after-thought to the next door casino, with no decent common areas to relax or meet in

We booked at this hotel for 4 nights with Stay and Play package deal. It includes breakfast for (2), complementary parking. Plus, Two x $10 free Slot Play per registered guest. But beware, you need to have an Encore Reward card which requires a lot of personal info before the card is issued to you. Besides, the king size bedroom was spacious, comfortable bed and pillows. Since we asked for walk-in bathroom instead of bathtub, they gave us a room on the 4th floor with disability access. Very peaceful soundproof room. Breakfast is a buffet style with fresh fruits, plain/fruit croissants, toast bread, scrambled eggs, saute vegetables and potatoes, sausage and bacon. Also, the kitchen could prepare the eggs according to your desire or bring corn flake cereal and cheese platter upon request. I'm not sure why they are not part of the buffet selection?

Burnaby location was very practical because it is centrally located at a short distance from Hwy 1, Canada Way, downtown, airport, and major attractions at a reasonable nightly fee. The Casino is accessible thru the hotel. The staff are very courteous and attentive.

Did not meet our expectations

Check in was longer than normal but I guess with it being a casino and the amount of people coming and going, it's to be expected.
This location is VERY BUSY. If your looking for a quiet hotel, then this is not for you.
Our room was average. We had a view of the highway. Parking is annoying and signage is poor. (At least that's what we thought anyways)
Check out was way too long- we waited in line for about 20 minutes while customer service reps ran around doing other things.
Being Gold members and treated very well at all other locations of Marriott, Delta has left us feeling that I would rather spend a few extra bucks and stay elsewhere and be treated as loyal/gold members should. To be given 2 handmade cookies at check in....it was a joke.
Would never stay here again. not our cup of tea for hotel choice.

I'll rate this hotel a two star.

When booking any hotel in the Vancouver area, ask them if they have a tax called the AHRT tax which is an additional room tax. When I checked out, on my bill there was the expected GST, the PST and after that, an additional 2% AHRT tax- which I had never heard of before. When I originally went to book the hotel, I had called directly and they said it would be $166 per night but might "go down" if I waited to book. ... So I called again a couple days later and ended up paying $262.65 for the 2 key nights that I needed to stay there. .... I was sad about that and while sitting in my hotel, I googled the room rate,- just to see what the going price was- and it appeared to be much less expensive for the same nights - which really super broke my heart. The mis-communication with the front desk cost me an additional $96 per night for two of the nights. .... As for the food -The Atlas steak house restaurant was great food, I just showed up there to eat when I walked by; didn't book a reservation- as- When I called down for reservations the phone message said it was under extensive renovations so I guess they forgot to re-record the message, or something. But it was open. And it was a lovely delicious dinner. We ordered one meal and split it because it was so expensive- but still, the one dinner was enough food for the two of us. I did ask the front desk if they would adjust my bill to make up for some of my disappointment and they gave me a grand total of three dollars off. They also did the fire alarm testing while I was there. I will say that the housekeeping staff should be the ones working the front desk because they were SUPER TREMENDOUS AN WONDERFUL!

Great location and amazing restaurant at hotel!

The hotel room was very nice, clean, and although we were beside the casino on a Sat eve in October it was very quiet. The best part of this hotel was the eating dinner at the restaurant. The food there was amazing. 5 stars. I had the salmon and my husband had a seafood dish. They served fresh rosemary bread for us at the beginning of the meal, and the wine selection was good. There is free parking at the casino and the location is central to driving to all the sites in Vancouver.
