Hostile hosts

After a long drive we arrived at 8,30 pm to be greeted by the host from behind a closed conservatory door pointing to his watch and shouting, yes shouting: "What time do you call this?"
It got worse, His wife was summoned and between them decided that we were too late and would have to find alternative accommodation. I apologised if we had inconvenienced them but pointed out that it was only 8.30 and we had actually paid for the room. This very unfriendly couple would not be moved and my wife and I, both in our 70s' had no choice but leave.

Very good welcome, food, place. Average B&B room.

3 night stay at the end of July. We had a good welcome from very friendly host. There were some nice extra touches and breakfasts were excellent, whether cooked or "continental" style. No chance of going hungry! We stayed in the twin room which was very clean, well supplied with tea & coffee and moderately spacious. The en-suite could generously be described as compact, though the shower was adequately roomy. Overall I could not rate the room above B&B average. Also we did have some problems with the shower working, which might have been when other guests were showering. This was discussed but the reason not pinned down. We were also warned that the wi-fi was a bit dodgy (which had been taken up with BT) and so it proved: connectivity was very patchy.
The location is properly rural with no services within the immediate area but Belford, 5 minutes drive, offers shops, food and pubs. The house has a very nice garden, though we did not find time to make use of it. The room was described as "garden view" which was true but understated its excellent outlook with an open view across to Lindisfarne.

Comfortable stay with great breakfasts

We had five nights in the twin room for our first trip to beautiful Northumberland. As an earlier reviewer said, it's not a massive room and the shower room is small, but the terrific views in two directions, and the generous breakfasts more than compensated. The room was spotlessly clean and contained everything we could need. The Jacksons were welcoming and friendly hosts, and Brenda has lots of tips for places to visit and to eat.

Home from home in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside

My husband and I spent two nights at the farm during the two day summer of 2016! Lovely quiet location with all the amenities and within easy driving distance of all coastal attractions. The Jacksons were lovely warm welcoming hosts who provided us with as much information as we needed to make our trip memorable and their breakfasts were to die for. I can specifically recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs! Just wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back....
