Very disappointing stay. I've given one star review as there is no option for zero. Lovely room but that's the only positive. Not a single cup, plate or item of cutlery in sight. No kettle. The all inclusive option was very poor. Breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner was just about edible. A couple of extremely rude waiters although there were a couple of nice ones. Coffee was about the cheapest you could imagine and even as coffee addicts we couldn't drink it.
The pool areas are small and the main pool does not allow inflatables so kids had to use them in the small pool which was basically a paddling pool.
The all inclusive option was very poor.... breakfast, lunch and dinner as explained but if you saw a snack at any other time you were very lucky and the only pool side snacks we saw were pastries. No ice creams etc for the kids.
Pretty rude staff on reception. Not helpful and very dismissive.
The main bar on reception wasn't open when we wanted a drink at about 11am just a little one by the pool miles away from reception.
The beach is down a steep hill as described but please be aware it really is steep and if you have kids and use a pushchair I'd recommend spending a month or so in a gym prior to visiting to give yourself half a chance. We are relatively fit but it is not an easy walk. The beach itself is volcanic rock so if you do make it down the hill in one piece don't envision your kids playing in the sand or building sand castles as it isn't that kind of beach.
Puerto de la Cruz is a pretty place but if you are going for a nice sunny break don't bother! The first 6 days we spent there were much like England with occasional breaks in the gloom. In desperation of saving the holiday we hired a car and for a few days drove back and forth to costa ajeda on the south coast. You literally saw the clouds lift and blue sky as you descended the mountains. The south coast is a much better climate which we weren't aware of, so if some sunshine is desired don't book Puerto de la Cruz.
In the end we paid for a hotel on the south coast which was lovely.
Diamonte suites is no way a 4 star hotel. It is 2, 3 at a massive push.
Thats my two cents worth anyway.
Great Value, excellent breakfasts plus a gym offering far more than you'd expect in a hotel!

We had great week here in September. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. You could cater for every possible diet from the breakfasts on offer - and the lady cooking pancakes was awesome to watch!
The rooms were large and clean. It's true the hotel is on a hill, but I didn't speak to anyone who thought it was too much. We had a lovely sunny balcony which we enjoyed too.
The pool bar was disappointing - we didn't mind paying for a cocktail, but got given a plastic cup with a pre mixed drink poured out of a carton - so I'd say if you're not HB or FB buy something in the supermarket and pop back to your room!
The hotel gym is awesome (I think it was two euros a session), the cardio equipment was a little old, but great free weights, incline leg press, lat pulldown, cables etc. Even a spin studio and a pilates studio.
I'd throughly recommend this hotel and it's location.
Definately worth another visit!

There are alot of mismatch reviews on here regarding this hotel which I dont think do it any justice. The hotel was great and good location for perfect views! Staff were all welcoming and friendly, The resturant staff were really nice and took a liking to my 3 year old daughter and now she misses her 'friends' lol. Food was great and every day there was alot of choice and the themed nights were great. Room was clean and perfectly situated in the hotel. A few english channels on the TV in room didnt put us off (who goes on holiday to watch tv anyway?). Will definately be looking to book back at this hotel for my next visit! :) entertainment was good but could be improved a little but that didnt effect our stay in the slightest :)
Very good but needs a little improvement..

Best things..Ok the best bit is the hotel suited so much my family..the kids swimming pool was perfect for us..the animation team especially Ana are perfect..Ana was so nice and friendly with us and our kids..Thankyou to the restaurant staff us well, for looking after us..very nice people..towels changed every day and room cleaned...we had a lovely time. Bad things..wireless internet very expensive 40 euros for 2 weeks for 2 phones..the food was average..we complained not once but twice because of food smelling and gone..the manager smelled it and apologised..to much pork and fish..glasses and plates very dirty..the lady in the bar by swimming pool is very rude..I had to mention everything..even if we were not happy at something in hotel..Ana in animation was the one making us smile..thankyou Ana 😀
Good the bad and the upsetting.

Great sized rooms, spotless pool, majority of the staff really pleasant and helpful. Great views of the volcano and a good walk into the town as long as you can cope with steep hills.
Food great variety and certainly something for everyone, however, often overcooked and insufficient information on what it was. We ate on the last night in the pool restaurant. Lovely surroundings unfortunately I broke my tooth on a piece of bone in a sausage. All of the staff were helpful with the exception of one of the reception staff who was really unpleasant.
