Another great stay at the Dionysos

frankieb0 on 24/10/2017 14:09

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel and it was equally, if not better, than the first. Everything about this hotel is first class from the beautiful large pool area with swim up bar, souvlaki snack bar, and various restaurants, large clean rooms with air con, to the wonderful friendly, helpful staff. The reception staff were particularly welcoming, and always had the time to listen and assist with any queries. Nothing was too much trouble and always greeted you with a friendly smile. Being our second visit,on our first day, after we returned from a short walk to hotel supermarket, we returned to our room to find a complementary bowl of fruit and bottle of wine. This was a 'thank you' for being a returning customer. What a lovely gesture! Overall a brilliant hotel and would definitely return and recommend to others. THANK YOU for a wonderful stay.

Excellent Hotel - Good food reasonable prices and staff very friendly and helpful

Room 211 - great partial sea views and lovely sunsets - overlooked gardens and pools of hotel next door. Clean and tidy room and bathroom. No Issues - room cleaned everyday and left perfect. Prices in restaurant matched Delete repeated word of local restaurants and had a good choice of traditional and Mediterranean food as well as usual burgers (very good) and pizza (al very good) Local beer Mythos very nice and reasonable price.

The pool area is great for the whole family

There are fabolous surroundings around the spacious pool with both the big lobby, bar and a restaurant situated around it. You just want to live around the pool.

The hotel surroundings was quite huge and lovely, absolutely worth a fourth star status. A big, almost luscious lobby and seats by the pool. Of course, the pool was busy - but the pool was huge and even with a fully booked hotel it wasn't a problem to get around in the pool. There are, however, a limited amount of sunbeds, but usually the crowd dispersed as some went to the beach which is just five minute walk away, to the city or other places. Still, if you are late (half past nine-ish) you won't get one.

The pool guy. Man, he must have the toughest job at the hotel. It is generally not allowed to occupy sunbeds with your towels and leave for breakfast (lunch gives room for a bit more slack). Personally, I not a fan of the towel mafia, so I think the pool guy did a good job, especially in spite of all the harrasment he got. Man, if you don't get it the second time your doing it - leave it be. The moving around with sun beds was also a discussion, but by using common sense and even asking the guy would get you a long way.

The service. Generally, very good service and helpfulness. The receptionists was all very helpful to make the most of our stay and helping us out when we had special requests about boat trips and other excursions. We found that the at-the-pool restaurant could improve on their effectiveness, but man, did they put in the effort, so it was a bit sad that they kind of was lagging behind and kept the people waiting.

The room was 3-star standard. Honestly, we didn't bother too much about that - as we mostly stayed outside, either by the hotel or in the city.

It is fairly easy to grab a cab - you can choose to walk down to a sort of a taxi station down by the sea - it'll take 4-5 minutes - and save 3 euros doing that or spend 11 euros by ordering a taxi through the hotel reception. And these cabs always arrived fast. The clerk behind the desk told me that it was guy from the island of Rhodes that invented a new system to make this happen and he's been busy selling it around Europe. I would definitely recommend ordering a taxi from the hotel. The buses to town was also kind of frequent and we did observe several people being a bit annoyed of not a bus arriving (also by the road by the sea).

And it is ideal for families with kids. It is quite noisy during the day, and quiet by the afternoon with some quite different and varying entertainment in the evening. Although we don't fancy that kind of entertainment too much, we were quite surprised and thoroughly entertained by some of them!

Ride into town is only ten to fifteen minutes - and if you like to take a run it's lovely to do that by the road by the seaside just 200-300m down by the hotel. If you want to go to nearby restaurant there are few good choices to the right after walking down to the seaside (you'll now what I mean when you get there), but a far larger selection to the left, but don't choose the first group of restaurant (they are close) - go for the 2nd or 3rd ;-)

And, I had forgot about the grasshoppers which are all around the island. They are noisy, but you get used to it. Overall, a recommended stay for a family.

Excellent but in need of a refurb

Breakfast was good, buffet style. Restaurants on site were outstanding, not pricey and very good quality - lots of veggie options for us! Pool area was nicely spread out so you could avoid all the kids if you wanted some peace and still have a dip. Staff were friendly and knowledgable about local area and excursions. It's only let down is the decor in the rooms, very 80s, in desperate need of a makeover.

Great value hotel

We had a lovely week staying here with bed and breakfast. Right from our arrival, staff were very friendly and helpful and we were pleased to find, that even though we arrived after 12am, we could still get a snack and drinks from the bar. The breakfast buffet here is plentiful and varied, with some nice traditional Greek dishes too. It's good to breakfast early as it got very busy around 9.30. The room had everything we needed-although note that you have to pay extra for the safe key. The bathroom was very clean and the balcony had more than enough room for two to sit and admire the sea view. Don't leave anything on the balcony though-its very windy and some shorts that were drying on a chair are never to be seen again! The location is great too as it is a 5 minute walk to get to the nearest beach. There is the offer of late check-in out, which we paid extra for. Lovely stay and would recommend.
