I am not sure about rating, as it is not a 4 star hotel by any means, but it is cozy, clean and tidy.
My room was at the first floor, but street noise was not annoying, sea view is very nice, and you can find so many restaurants around you.
the swimming pool at the top roof is not a real swimming pool it is so small and the area is so small.
Hotel breakfast is nice.

We are staying at the Diplomat Hotel in Sliema which is in a perfect location for travelling around Malta as the bus stops are around 500 to 600 yards away depending upon which direction you wish to travel. Some people have complained about the hotel being a little dull and needs updating
I agree to a certain extent but it has its own style and we had no consensus complaints about the room or the staff /service levels and yes it could do with upgrading but this is Malta steeped in history if you wander around the area in the 1st floor their are lots of historical pictures
What we would like to see changed was the food although plenty of choice and s buffet which is acceptable and the food is nice enough we did not expect fine dining. But what does let it down is the choice it should I say the lack of deserts. I overheard another customer complaining about the same issue and they received the following answer "all the hotels in Malta buy their deserts from the same company "
Well you can have a choice of cakes as little no as you thought don't mind them with around 65% cream based and also the lack of any decent cheese and crackers. They do occasionally have fruit do why not offer a fruit salad to me that's s no brainer
Anyway please accept my apology for ranting as on the whole have enjoyed our holiday but the experience would have been much more enjoyable if the above had been different

We stayed here from 7-14 May 2017. Although a bit dated it was very clean and comfortable. The hotel has narrow frontage and runs a long way down a side street which can be noisy at night (Mostly people just being a bit rowdy and thoughtless in the early hours). It is in a very good position directly opposite the seafront walkway with easy access to the numerous buses. The is a good selection of Restaurants within a short distance in either direction. We stayed half board and had breakfast every morning which was very well presented with a lot of choice (i.e., Full English, Continental, Fresh Bread, Toaster, Fruit, Cereals , Yoghurt, etc, etc). In the Evening there was a full Menu available which was posted during the afternoon so you could decide to stay in or go out. This consisted of a choice of a couple of Starters, Several main courses, and Sweets/cheese and biscuits to follow. This was done on a serve yourself basis and you could go up as many times as you liked. The cost of this was a 15 euros for residents. There are three bars which included one in the Foyer, a 'Pub' style Bar upstairs and also a Pool Bar (with a Roof pool) on the roof (although this wasn't in use in May). On the Thursday night there was a very good Maltese Country Singer (she has made six albums) who was very good indeed with a great voice and an incredible repetiore of material including being able to sing just about any request she was asked. Our room and Bathroom was cleaned very well every day with change of towels etc, whenever requested. Really the only problem I had was on the Saturday night I wanted to settle up as we had a very early flight on the Sunday morning. I was told that this wouldn't be possible until after 10pm and that there were not facilities to do it early in the Morning. Apart from that the staff are typical of the Maltese friendliness which is Legendary.

I had read several reviews of this hotel after I had booked it. Some were a little derogatory. However I can comment that this was a really nice hotel.Yes I agree it needed upgrading but the staff and service were second to none. We had a lovely room with a sea view and were advised beforehand that it could be noisy. The room was clean with a nice ensure with complimentary toiletries. The only comment I would make that a mattress enhancer would be nice. All the staff were friendly especially in the restaurant where we ate a lovely varied breakfast each morning. We tried the bar one evening where there was a fantastic country singer playing. I was convinced she was Irish in fact she was Maltese. The hotel is ideally situated and yes as one comment made was that it was like a saga outlet there were a large number of older people there but they were great. I really recommend this hotel we will be going back.

The Diplomat Hotel is a nice hotel in Sliema area close to sea and seapromenad. The hotel is a bit outdated but the rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is typical English. There could be some more variation . The WIFI was free but very slow. I had a nice sea view.
