We had a two bedroom unit, which was behind the main building. The bathroom was nice, but there was only one for the 2 rooms. The bedrooms were very plain. The living room was simple. The internet did not work well, probably because we were in the back of the complex. There seemed to be a lot of groups in the main building. We did not eat there, but the restaurant was completely empty when we walked by to go out to dinner. The location was convenient.

We stayed two nights in one of the the Villas. We opted for this because we were traveling with another couple and the two bedroom option was ideal. To be completely honest, I felt like I was in a low end motel. First of all, the room smelled mildewy. The rooms are very basic and the furniture looked as if it was found at a garage sale. While walking on the property, I could see in other villas and they were nothing like ours. I will say that the bathroom had been updated and was nice...except that the toilet wouldn't flush... we literally had to fill the bathroom trash can with water to put into the bowl so it would flush. We had called maintenance about it and they said they had fixed the problem while we were out, well, the problem wasn't fixed. They had a nice buffet in the morning but it was quite expensive for what you got... I probably would not stay here again.

We stayed for a few nights with a lake view room. Room was great and the we outoor bit made it perfect. Staff were friendly and breakfast was to die for. Would definitely come back. Place is not dated at all given the into account all hotels around NZ

This was a peaceful stay. Our room was situated directly across from the lake. Small sitting patio that was perfect for taking in the view. Has a guest laundry and offered a great breakfast option. This is close the the wharf for the Glow Worm excursion, close to supermarket and some restaurants. Lovely stay. Make sure to check thermostat on the wall in conjunction with dial on heater to have it work at best.

We decided to stay at Distinction Hotel after reading other reviews on trip advisor and we certainly were not dissapointed. we recieved great service from the time of our arrival until we left. We stayed three nights here and didnt want to leave. We had a Deluxe garden villa which was very well equiped and spacious, has a gas fire and an amazing bathroom and shower area complete with spa bath. There is lots to do in this area so stay a few nights and enjoy Fiordland.
