Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Booked a sea view room, and when we got to the hotel it was bad enough that the receptionist spoke very little English, but when we got to the room it was so outdated. Holes in the door, holes in the sofa that came with the room, the bed was awful and the wardrobe, we were also told we would have a mini bar in the room, which was a mini fridge locked away that we were told we had to pay 5 Euro a day for. Went out onto the balcony and the money we had payed for the sea view room was appalling, you couldn't see the sea anywhere, all that was in the view was rubble and graffiti. We had also payed for a spa package to be told when we went down to reception, we had to pay 20 euro a day for also. Awful hotel for any British person to stay in, had to access map on our phones to try and find somewhere to go out for food as the help in the hotel could not understand what we wanted, found 2 restaurants which also spoke little English and the menus were not in English either. When back at the hotel, we complained immediately that we had been misinformed of the hotel, the room and the surroundings. Nothing was done so we immediately rung the travel agent and asked for a transfer, the hotel dealing with this was also another appalling event.
Had to stay until following day and as we had payed for breakfast we decided to check it out as we had to wait a couple of ours for our transfer, the breakfast consisted of stale bread, what looked like tinned fruit and some sort of meat I have never seen before.
Worst hotel experience yet.
All inclusive comments

Very poor quality treated like second class citizen. Cocktails if you were paying were beautifully presented but as all inclusive they had no fruit or decoration nothing like the picture on the bar. Pina colada was a slushy from a machine.
Food was a let down i.e. fruit cocktail from a tin with bits of fresh melon thrown in. Left over breakfast items used to make salad dishes for lunch. No tea or coffee facilities in the room so no access to drinks during the night. Not British friendly shrugged shoulders when I complained about faulty equipment.
Charged 40 euro for late checkout and were told this entitled us to all facilities did not even include tea or coffee and card key no longer worked plus no receipt given. Rooms were very tired and had broken bins and torn bed cover.
Hotel lobby looks great and has beautiful pool and gardens it's a shame that the rest of the hotel is a let down. Very poor evening entertainment.
Loved the area but would not use this hotel again . Staff didn't even acknowledge us on leaving. Worst all inclusive I've ever been to.
Not For English

The hotel does not really cater for English guests, so I suggest you brush up on your Spanish. The free WiFi was actually only for 1 hour a day in reception, very disappointed in this day and age, but they will charge €20 per device for wifi. I paid extra for a poolside balcony, but was then told we could not have a double bed on arrival. The poolside is supposed to be a quite zone but every single night there was shouting and screaming till the early ours. When reported the just shrugged their shoulders. Family hotel that does not speak English in the children clubs, only really meant for their Spanish and German guests. Was electrified by a socket hanging out of the wall, they sent a maintenance man to fix, but didn't seem to care about the electric shock.
Very pleasant stay

Had a lovely stay at Diverhotel very clean, beautiful pool and the breakfast was superb with lots of choices. Very friendly helpful staff particularly in reception. The main stayers are elderly Germans who tend to keep themselves to themselves but I felt entertainment was geared to cater for them and not a younger generation. To walk to the main town centre was quite hilly and takes 20 minutes. We came back to the UK feeling fitter as a result but it's not for everyone. The only annoying part the stay was a cockerel squawking 4am every morning woke us up every time, not that I think the hotel can do much about that. All in all a good stay.
Below average - good and bad points below

Visited with my wife, I'm 36, wife is 27
Bad points-
Hotel is quite dated, broken fountains, worn furniture, balcony peeling etc.
Vending machine thinks it's okay to charge €2 for a Kit Kat. Makes me want to unplug it and drag it into the pool!
Hotel is around 90% Germans who are on 45-80 years old. The TV reflects this, only English Channel is the news. Not so much a bad point but if you are young and don't speak German you might struggle to get banter from them.
Bar closes at 11.
Personally my wife and I did not enjoy the food. There is live cooking so some nights you can strike it lucky. They make fresh pizza with proper pizza oven, looks the real deal, but when I got my pizza there was like a clear gel over the cheese and even after I scraped it off, it was absolutely barking. Pasta is pretty tasteless too.
The Germans queue 30 minutes before the all inclusive opens. We counted 80 of them waiting to get in one night, some even reserve tables. There's always space though, maybe they want it fresh.
The Mount Teide bar opposite restaurant is absolutely lifeless. The whole area is like an abandoned airport. Calling it mount teide bar is just hilarious, it's been designed with a ruler and a set square.
Spa is €15 per head per day, I found that expensive for what it is. (That's after discount)
Limited plug sockets, had to rob the TV (no hardship there) as well as the locked up mini bar/fridge
If your room doesn't face the pool then your view will be quite nasty. Our initial room was looking onto rubble and dead trees. We paid €70 to upgrade.
Good points
Lovely view up the mountain
Lovely gardens with cockerels who proper cock a doodle do at dawn and continue through day.
Pool is decent and has jacuzzi
Most staff seem really nice
Room is clean
If you do enjoy your meal then the balcony area is really lovely.
Beer is decent, cruzcampo on tap and dorada on bottles. You also get served in glasses unless going to poolside. There's wee dodgy cocktails which are pleasant enough but don't think they will get you ripped. If you pay a further €3 you'll get a decent mojito.
Points to note-
Hotel is miles away from anything. There's a small kiosk at end of road, maybe quarter of a mile, then it would be another mile to find bars and restaurants.
When you do hire a car, you often need to get creative with the parking.
If you don't have a pool or sea view you'll be at the 'bottom' end of hotel looking into rubble and dead trees. €70 to upgrade to pool view.
