What People are saying

escape the hectic of the city but be prepared for a long ride to the city or airport.

Sebastian K on 20/11/2017 08:54

people say it’s the number one hotel in La Paz. I can agree with this regarding is relaxing feel and awesome interior. It’s a very nice and welcoming place. the food was ok. I was a bit upset that on a Sunday i can’t get room service while they have their weekly bbq outside and at their restaurant. so i had to go to the buffet. Some of the food were cold already but tasty. It was quiet busy, seems like many locals come here to enjoy it to.

the pool is nice and feels like heaten up a bit. warm water temperature.

no free water in the room is a thing I didn’t expect but overall not a big problem. mini bar offers lots of things.

Internet connection was from good during the night to not working at all during the day. I guess to many people using the same connection at the same time.

what I really don’t like is that they call your room all the time. I stayed 2 nights and they called me like 8 times asking different things. often just to make sure everything goes right, but still a bit annoying.

There’s also a rooster on the neighbors farm. It might be annoying if your room is on the wrong side.

My main concern is that it’s so far outside of the city. It’s an hour drive to the city and almost 2 hours to the airport. Depending on the traffic. The streets are not in the best condition (sometimes more like a field road), so after a long flight it will take really long to relax in a bed. I also had to cancel a meeting with a friend because it takes forever for taxis to arrive here.

I ordered one for 4am to pick me up and it was there 20min late.

Attention: there’s also no ATM near. Next is 23km far. You’ll need money to tip and for the taxis.

An escape...

Our friend, living and working in La Paz, brought us for a coffee/beer to the garden of this resort. I seems to be a place to relax from the altitude of the city and spend some time. Day-use is possible, the swimming pool is heated and quite large. It would be too far to recommend it to 2-5 day tourists in La Paz, but if one stays longer - a perfect 5star escape!

Left Wanting

The location of the hotel and the hotel itself is very nice.

BUT, one would expect that a 5-star hotel have better restaurant service (the kitchen and bar closed at 11pm on a Friday night!!!).

I strongly recommend that the "lite sleepers" pick a room facing their very nice pool. We stayed in room 211 (facing the wall) and were awakened by the neighbors rooster at 4am and the damn thing didn’t shut up for hours. Suffice to say we didn’t get any rest that evening.

Later that morning, I was in the mood for a nice filling breakfast (service started a 7:30am and we got there at 7:45am). The scrambled eggs I served myself were cold, not warm, cold. There weren’t any servers to talk to either. What a disillusion!
Before breakfast, we called the front desk so as to request the ironing of a dress and a shirt. Though they offered a 30min service, it took close to 2 hours (if not more).

Maybe I’m too demanding, but it is definitely not a 5-star hotel, 3 maybe 4.

A Quiet Escape from the City

Sarah K on 06/09/2016 03:44

Hotel Andino is located about 45 minutes outside of La Paz, and it serves as a great place for a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway from the city. The pool, spa, and sauna are wonderful, as is the food. There are lots of activities, including a game room and mini golf course. If you want to venture away from the resort, there is a hike up a mountain with an excellent view of Mecapaca and the surrounding mountains.

DM Andino it's a nice hotel, they attended me very well, over the actually expected, good service, a little bit far from the city but its very calm, the food was delicious prices are reasonable, the internet connection fluctuated but got the job done.
Nice hotel, I recommend it and when I return it'll be my first choice
