Loved the room and view.

Beautiful hotel set into cliff face, big room, large balcony overlooking the bay and beach. Lovely friendly staff at reception. An interesting way to get to your room, elevator to level one, take second road to the right, building N. Not a good hotel if you have difficulty with slopes. Bed comfortable. Easy walk to little town for restaurants for dinner, and they were good!
OK if you just want the beach and a cheap place but many annoyances

Some annoyances that could be fixed by management – several times I had to wait a long time for the water to get hot for a shower, the internet access went off/on, and some of the staff were surly (some were quite helpful). Nice setting but in a remote area with not much around and a 12 euro taxi ride to the old town. Awful tasting water – and the hotel only provided one free bottle on check-in and you had to hike over to reception to buy more. We moved to a place in the old town – much nicer. Perhaps OK for families and a short visit - but surely the staff can be more helpful rather than act is if it's a bother if you ask them something.
Excellent Family Hotel

The rooms are very clean, most essential aspect. Staff extremely polite and helpful.
Needless to mention the exquisite view from some rooms and excellent location only 2'walk from the beach. All inclusive is not exactly as other hotels offer it, but still food is excellent, and with adequate variety.
Holiday in Galissas, Syros.

We stayed at the Dolphin Bay hotel which is very close to the bay/beach in the small village of Galissas on the west coast of Syros.
The hotel is spread out over quite an area and includes several independent building situated on the hillside overlooking Galissas Bay.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. On arrival we were sent to our allocated room which was on a ground level. As we had requested an upper room we asked if a move was possible. This was no trouble to the staff who gave us keys to check out two other rooms. We chose one which we were very happy with.
As the Hotel is set on a hill side it may be a concern to some that rooms may not be easily accessible without a arduous climb. This is not the case as there are two small lifts set on different levels which make things much easier.
One thing to keep in mind regarding the rooms is that due to the layout of the hotel the shapes and views of the rooms can vary a lot. So if you don't wish to pay extra for a particular 'room type and view', it might be worth remembering how our situation worked out, though I would presume room options would change at peak times. (Tip:As with many hotel bars drinks are expensive).
The beach at Galissas is great for swimming. It is also shallow for some distance so kids love it. There are a limited number of Restaurants but all serving great food.
As the Island is so small (approx 11mls by 7.5mls) you could if you wished visit places of interest in just a couple of days by bus or car/scooter hire. This includes different beaches and the town of course though there is also the cave of 'St. Stefanos' most easily accessed by boat but you can also walk there if it is not too hot.
A visit to the Town (Ermoupoli) on the hourly bus from Galissas village takes about 20mins but at certain times returning buses take different routes on the way back. (one is a bit of a milk round so you might want to check this out). The town is vibrant and busy with plenty of places to eat. If you feel energetic you can climb the hill to Ano-Syros. It may be comforting to know that you can also eat there too.
It was the first time we had stayed on a bed and breakfast basis at a Hotel as we usually choose self catering but we found the whole procedure to be laid back with food options catering for everybody.
To reach Syros you fly to Mykonos. The Ferry is the next part of the journey and can be smooth or 'otherwise'. This seems to be due to Ferry times not harmonizing with flight arrivals and could mean a delay of several hours in Mykonos which some may welcome and others not. Our view is that it is just part of holiday and so we just make the best of it.
The situation is the same on the return journey and there is a possibility that you may be shipped over to Mykonos a day early and then spend a night in Mykonos in an equal status Hotel at no extra cost of course. This is in fact what happened to us though our incoming journey went very smoothly.
We were taken to the ferry port and then, when in Mykonos, transported to a hotel in 'Agios Stafanos' near the beach. We didn't mind this situation as it broke up the journey home and gave us a chance to buy some last minute presents. Free transportation by Taxi was laid on to Mykonos Town only a few miles away.
On the whole we loved this holiday and can certainly recommend The Dolphin Hotel and Galissas Village as a base.
Ideal for families with children, Value for Money

I have stayed at this hotel on August 2016 for 3 nights. Very nice pool area with slide. Galissas beach is a few meters from the hotel and it's very nice as well. All day free ice cream and popcorn for the children was a plus. Also a lot of activities for the children in the afternoon (Cinema, Children caring service etc). I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and if i return to Syros for sure i will stay at Dolphin Bay Hotel.
