Arrived after a long drive from Bergerac to a charming and very friendly welcome. Beautiful grounds, elegant formerly family owned old house. Now a delightful and interesting hotel. Very comfortable well furnished 2nd floor room (there is a lift!). Good spacious bathroom, with bath and shower, plenty of hot water and snow-white towels. And a huge velux window.Plus that wonderfully relaxing silence of a rural French setting.
Quaint little bar and then a superb dinner - best we had in 12 days in France. Limited but excellent choice and wines at a reasonable price to go with a dinner of this quality. Make time to explore grounds and also La Roche Bernard - very French little harbour village

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is a 5-10 min drive from La Roche-Bernard or Nivillac. The pool wasn't open when we stayed which was disappointing as it would have made a great place to spend an afternoon! Good sized family bedroom, had 2 toilets a shower room and separate area for a single bed. Breakfast was a simple affair but well prepared and the choice was adequate. We treated ourselves to the a la carte dinner, simply delicious - the oysters were sooo good! Not suitable for kids though. Plenty of places in the villages nearby to eat as a family.

We stayed her for a night on our way back to the boat. It is a great find and we will be back. As we had our dog we stayed in the 'annex' which suited is beautifully as it was very spacious and quiet. Great hosts there for advice but not intrusive at all. The grounds are extensive and lovely to walk around. We stayed on a Thursday night which turned out to be the chefs night off so Chris booked us into a superb restaurant in the local village. It had a range of menus and all food was fresh.

We booked this hotel eight months previously for a family reunion of six people. Two days before our arrival, after I emailed to book a table for dinner, we discovered that there was no booking, at least for the first night - it may have been for all five nights.
We'd booked through Brittany Ferries and that company was superb, really doing everything it could to overcome the situation. However, when we arrived at Bodeuc on what would have been the second day of our stay, we found the rooms that we'd been allocated were in the attic and not as good as we had anticipated. Two of our party were allocated a very small room which was nigh on impossible to walk around the bed.
It's a lovely hotel, a lovely situation and dinner is good. Sadly, the welcome we had been expecting after a profuse apology from the owners for the mess-up of our booking, although good the first day, rather deteriorated. Each breakfast we were given just one jug of coffee between six and grudgingly another ultimately, after a lot of prompting, would appear. The same happened with the plate of bread and croissants. We felt we were treated as second class citizens.

We did not intend to stay here but are very glad that we did. We thought that we had booked elsewhere in the area but, when we showed up, there was no reservation to be found. Just a very grumpy receptionist who failed to see the funny side of us getting telephone numbers muddled up. How different at Domaine de Bodeuc where the welcome was both charming and efficient. The Domaine is not one of those posh ones with manicured this, that and the other, but is comfortable and easy to stay in. Breakfasts were fine and our one dinner was well cooked and good value. There is a decent sized pool which you could sit around for a day if you tired of exploring. You need a car to get to the nearest village but the Domaine a delightful gem far from any crowds.
