Brilliant base for a ski break

Studio room was clean and warm. Bathroom had bath and shower. Kitchenette adequate. Little patio area had a nice view of the mountains. Breakfast provided in dining room if required. You can order you bread for the day from reception if you want to cater for yourself. You can bring your own sheets etc or you can request to hire what you need. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much bother. Staff speak very good English for those who don't speak French. Very close to the base station for the cable car to the main ski area Ax les 3 Domaines. Plenty of walks and outdoor pursuits very close by for summer visits. You can walk into the town easily from the apartments. Quiet town in a beautiful location. We had hired a car from Toulouse airport which made exploring and shopping much easier. 1 1/2 hours drive from Toulouse airport. Would definitely stay there again.
Good for the price

This was a good quality of lodging. Before booking at this location, you must know that you need to either bring you own or pay for: bed sheets and towels. Appartments are clean, kitchen are minimal but has everything in it.
We didn't notice there's was a check-in time, so we arrived late. We really appreciate that they put a note on the reception door for us and open our room. We were tired and only wanted to get a bed. They provide linen just in case we need it and, we need it. We stays there only for one night. It's a very good place to stay if you enjoy winter sports. They are very accomodating.

Hmm..I came away thinking it was OK, but not raving about it. I think the price reflects its location.... so think about this before you book !
1. Location : is on main road out to Andorra. 15 mins walk from centre - pavements full of piled up snow so we had to walk on the road. It is tiring when carrying skis and boots, and there is no shuttle service.
2. Road up into car park is steep and we needed to put chains on to get up there. They do not clear it all the time. There doesn't seem to be enough car park spaces either for all the appartments so in school holiday weeks it could be a bit of a battle to park.
3. We had a 6 person appartment. Clean and well maintained. Two bunk beds and a large built in cupboard - these were just to the right of door, but no other door to "close" them from the entrance hall. Bathroom and loo are here too. Then there is a well equipped kitchenette just off the lounge, small but had everything. Double sofa bed in the lounge/dining area. Large patio doors out to terrace. Double bedroom with sliding door and small built in cupboard. Overall impression was that six people in there for a week would be pretty cramped, and apart from the people in the double bedroom - no-one else has any privacy. But ski appartments are often compared to rabbit hutches ...
4. Rental of towels and sheets/pillowcases was 5€ per person.
5. Bring extra loo roll and basic cleaning stuff (tea towel, cloth, washing up liq etc).
6. When you check out - need to take rubbish to bins, return bedding to reception, and also give the appartment a clean (surfaces / remove mud on floors etc). Otherwise you get charged for cleaning (not sure how much though).
I would certainly agree with a previous reviewer - carefully weigh up price versus how close you need to be to town !
Reasonable, but make sure it is right for you....

The apartment was clean, a good size, modern, ample free parking, friendly staff and a reasonable price - so what can be wrong?
- It is quite a walk from the centre of the town at least 20 mins and much more on the way back as it is up a steep hill.
- Do read the small print before you book
You must take towels and bed linen or be charged extra for them.
You must clean the flat before leaving or be charged extra.
- One final warning, the balcony. It has wooden 'slats' and consequently is not very private. You can be seen and heard from the balcony above and/or below. During our stay some washing was hung out above and we needed an umbrella to sit outside!!
