You would never think it was a B&B ?
Our Host made us feel welcome, our room was spotless, cosy and just perfect. The view was breathtaking !
A Great nights sleep and a wonderful breakfast.
Superb! Thank you for a lovely stay.. It's rare to feel as relaxed after one nights sleep as we did? I slept 7 hrs compared to my usual 3 or 4 ! Definately a first for me !
Last Minute

We were transferred to Domaine le Castagne at the last minute by the owner of the BnB we had originally booked into (unforeseen events). So we didn't have a lot of idea where we were heading.
Veronique was fantastic - welcoming and heaps of fun. She showed us to our generously sized rooms. Yes rooms! It was like a small apartment with fabulous style African décor. Yes please!
Outside was a sun trap with comfortable seating where we enjoyed an unexpected heat wave in April.
You must try her mother's delicious home made jam for breakfast!
We strongly recommend staying there!
Thank you Veronique and Serge for making our stay such fun!

Arrived at Auch late at night and wasn't easy to find but after frightening one or two Frenchmen with my driving we found it. Veronique welcomed us to her cracking old family home she's a lovely girl very informative and bubbly after a five hour drive just what you need. Room was large warm and comfortable the breakfast was traditionally continental but the place is century's old, on a hillside and as we were leaving the mist lifted to show its splendour and as nice as Veronique is this is what I will remember.

Nice large room with coffee making supplies. Owner very helpful with recommendations for dinner in Auch. Off the main road, but people in a nearby business could easily give us directions. Attractive setting. Great wifi reception.
A Great Place to Stay

I usually save my review-writing for a place that I feel really negative about, such as my recent review of a clip joint in Biarritz, but Le Castagne was such a great place that I had to overcome my natural laziness to write a positive review.
The chambre d'hote, or bed and breakfast is around 5-6 minutes drive from the old part of Auch. Auch itself, while not on the list of must-see places in France, is well worth a visit. It is the center of what used to be called Gascony and produces the famous Armagnac brandy. Also, there are many surrounding villages of interest. Le Castagne is a real farm and you stay in a building several hundred years old. Our room was spacious and private with a beautiful view of a chateau across the fields. You are right at the edge of town.
The room was a bargain, at 60 Euros with breakfast, the best value and nicest place of our entire 3-week trip to France. The proprietor, Veronique, is an attractive and charming woman who sings rather than speaks in slow French, so that we could understand her. After being ripped off at La Ferme de Biarritz, it was like a night and day change here.
If you do not feel like going back to town to eat, there is a good restaurant at the Campanile Hotel, 2 minutes away. Not fancy but good food for good value.
So I would urge anyone considering a visit to Auch to come to Le Castagne. Our stay was in October, a great time to visit France. But if you come in the summer you probably need to book well in advance.
