Great customer service and beautiful hotel. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are clean and beautiful. I love the art gallery and the restaurant was amazing I traveled for business but would come back for a personal trip because of how nice it was.

I just spent 4 nights at this hotel. I had read the reviews and knew several guests were commenting that the hotel needed an update. Yes the chair in my room was showing wear but the things that matter in a hotel were all there. The front desk staff were friendly and competent. The bellmen and shuttle drivers were a huge asset. Always ready with a recommendation or to take guests on the shuttle within 3 miles of the hotel. As a Hilton Honors Gold member I enjoyed the breakfast buffet as a perk. Otherwise it was $22.95. The food was good and replenished often. My only disappointment (and it is a minor one) is that the food never varied. The items were the exact same every day.
I was surprised at how large the room was in a downtown hotel. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. My favorite item in the room was the clock. It also displayed the month, date and day of the week along with the time. Which was good for those of us crossing time zones.
I would stay here again.

The place is very nice and clean. The views from the 21st floor were very nice of downtown and the mountains. There is a lovely Japanese garden on the second floor.
The gym facility was pretty decent so that I could get some cardio in and some machine work in during my stay. Some people said the place is dated, okay a little, no USB ports in the lamps or desk but not a big deal. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom nice with a great Speakman shower head. Fantastic fresh breakfast buffet, the made to order omelette was delicious as well as the chocolate muffins. This was much better than those free breakfasts you get at most places. I selected a rate that included breakfast for 4 and parking(valet or self, same price when you book that rate).
The price was a little steep at $313 with taxes but is the going rate for decent hotels in that area of downtown and actually cheaper than the hotels by LA Live/Staples center.
Free transportation around the downtown area, we actually walked back along S. Figueroa Street from Staples center after a concert and felt safe.

I have stayed at many Doubletree Hotels and many hotels, period. This by far has been the best DoubleTree and maybe Hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff here has been terrific from Saul and Stephanie in the restaurant to the front desk staff and the rooms are terrific. Their beds and pillows are the most comfortable that I've ever experienced and that says a lot because I tend to get very uncomfortable easily with the wrong bed. But mostly due to the customer service that this hotel staff has offered as a whole from the minute you get here with the valet staff all the way through to the housekeeping staff and more. Definitely a five-star stop for me this week.

Not by first choice but close to where our conference was - Front desk staff were ok - the other staff were wonderful.
An average stay for a high price . Lots of good restaurants in walking distance and it seems quite safe in downtown now .
