good situated hotel with a extremely friendly and helpful staff. 24/7 reception and you can drop your key whenever you leave! The room was clean and tidiy and doesnt look like a 2 Star room at all.

Everyone was very friendly and professional. The bed is really good. 24hs service. The locations is superb. If you are looking for a inexpensive stay in Nice this is the place. Go for it! I did not have a chance to explore more....

this little hotel is located in the shadow of the Dotre Dame cathedral on Rue Jean Medecin - the Oxford st of Nice.
do home work re buses from airport - the hotelis lierally on the Prpmenade du Anglaise and many local buses run up and down to the city at 1.50 euro. the 'express' bus cost 6Euro and will take you to near the station. the bus website is good with routes and numbers and if you need 2 buses then the one tick is good for 74 minutes ample time to change. the new tram system is being built too that stops at the airport again 1.5euro but not sure when it will open. Taxis are a rip off the journey to the city centre is 15-20 minutes and they will charge you 30 Euro!!!
I understand the managment are new this year and so have been treading water this season to see how the hotel works. All staff we met were fantastically freindly and infromative of the city and neighbouring towns and sights to see. it is a gentle 10-15 minute walk to the beach and old town where the flower market is on every day bar Monday when a very interesting ( if not a little expensive!) 'bricante' antiques market is on in the same area. as soon as the market closes the area is transformed into a bar and eating area spilling out from the bars along the edges - a city that really does use it space to capacity.
the beach itself is a pebble beach so bring footwear - not good for bare feet!
the famous blue chairs are on the front and a wonderful place to sit in the sun and people watch or soak up the wonderful coast line view. - but would guess at the hieght of summer these will be taken up fast. ( we went in October and always got a seat)
best view is from the top of the old castle and cathedral on the head between beach and port. losts of stairs but also a lift (it was free in October -not sure if it is in summer)
we were told the hotel is to close in January for a refurbishment and it is really needed. it is a low 2 star hotel but I am geting the impression the new mangament want to increase this perception. i hope they will-
- ditch the nursery colour scheme - orange and peach reds etc not sofisticated
- ditch the plant - who wants a plant in their room!!?
- add a bed side table and light to each side of bed ( i had to use a chair and torch )
- consider (if they do supply shower gel etc) putting up a wall mounted dispenser as now most even high end 4-5 stars places do, it would be cheaper and easier for housekeeping.
- our room was very small yet had a king size bed and an extra kingsize duvet you couldn't walk round the place - a double bed would be big enough in this small room.
- keeping the fridge - a real boon to keep drinks cool.
- keeping Ac units - the best i have seen in a small hotel
- install fans to bathroom area - if you leave window open to let steam out you invite mosquitos in!! we made this mistake and suffered for it!!
- sound proof walls and ceilings- the shower next room was on the same wall as bed ead and really it felt we were in the shower itself - it was shall i say .not very interesting' the ceilings had been lowered in our room but we could hear every word and footstep of the room above and having a cavity between meant any sound was in fact amplified a simple act of dropping a shoe on the floor above sounded like a heavy impact in our room.
- ensure the TV bracket can move to be able a view from the bed in our room it was on a wall to the side and so you had a side ways view.
- change the locks on doors- again as the coridoors were all tiled and had reduced ceiling the noise from a simple act of locking doors was amplified. ( and as always some guests do keep late hours and it is difficult to be quiet if the actual doors are noisy) a better system would be to introduce a card system as in a lot of hotels. this is quiet, self locking simple to use and also would alleviate the need to constantly handing keys in every time you left the hotel.
- room safe - invest in electronic versions with no key and combination system. thus no need to have a 'deposit of between 50-400Euro! we never bothered but would use it other wise.
- i know I am going to sound very English but if the hotel is willing to supply kettle and tea/coffee they should go that extra inch and actually supply what people want - an english breakfast tea and some coffee are usually drunk white - no milk or whitener was provided. it is knowing your guests and making their individual experience the best it could be.
we enjoyed what Nice had to offer and it will be interesting to see if the new hotel owners can up their game -not prices- to ensure it is an overall pleasant experience to stay in the city without using the remark often said in conncection with this type of standard hotel ' oh well you only sleep there put up with it' .

Booked a last minute 1 night stay due to flight cancellations and oh what a find.
Room for 4 persons overlooked the church and was very clean and comfortable. The beds were amazing and the pillows were the best I've ever had in a hotel we all said how great they were. The staff were very welcoming and offered us a breakfast at the cafe next door and was well with the €9 each. Upon returning to collect our luggage we were given bottles of water for our ongoing journey. A real treasure of a find
