Lovely find - cosy, charming and a good nights' kip!

Billie N on 11/06/2017 21:45

We stayed at this B and B for one night as we were attending a wedding at Marleybrook House, Preston. We had a really lovely stay overall despite only being in the room for a little while. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and his dog, who showed us to our room promptly. We had asked if we could arrive early to get to the wedding and the hosts were very accommodating. The breakfast was lovely, with a warm selection of croissants, yoghurts, rolls, cereals, cereal bars and juices, as well as fresh ground coffee and tea. It was nice to eat this in the room at a time that suited us - more freedom than other places! The parking on the road outside was fine and it's quite easy to find. Free wifi was nice to have as well as TV in room.

We were in Room 2, (twin room) and the beds were comfy, if a little squeaky! The room had character and although it could do with a little bit of new decor, felt very cosy and I loved the beamed ceilings and sash windows. However, whilst the room was very clean overall, there were a few cobwebs on the ceiling in the beams.

The let down of the room was the bathroom. The ensuite was clean and big however there was only a bath with a shower head but no holder or shower curtain. The shower itself was either too hot or too cold and had we been there an extra night we would have complained. This was really the only let down - my cousin stayed in the room with four poster bed and said he a lovely shower and also had a great sleep.

I would stay here again but not in the twin room for more than one night.

Lovely B&B

The B&B is a nice olde world property with lots of character. Large doors, wooden floors and banisters located just a short walk from the pubs, restaurants and shops in Minster. The property is clean and tidy. At night it is nice and quiet. The bedroom we stayed in comprised of a four poster bed, side tables, draws and cupboards. Plenty of space for your clothes and shoes. There is a TV with dvd player. Tea and coffee making. The bathroom had a sink, toilet and double shower which was clean. The bathroom was also private not shared. The bed was very comfortable, one of the best night's sleep I have had away from my own. Breakfast is a self-service affair. You have a good choice of cereals, yoghurts, breakfast bars and juice. There are also fresh pastries available from the oven. Breakfast is taken in your room which is nice. There is plenty of private off street parking available.

Cosy and relaxed

Situated in the beautiful and historic village of Minster, Durlock Lodge is a fantastic place to base yourself for exploring the surrounding countryside of East Kent and Thanet. The house itself is a wonderfully characterful old building and our room was clean and cosy with all the necessary amenities such as en suite bathroom/shower, TV, kettle and Wi-Fi. There is an excellent system for the self service continental breakfast with a wide variety of cereals, pastries, yogurt and tea/coffee. For a moderate sized village, Minster itself is well served by some good local restaurants and pubs, there is a railway station nearby and reserved guest parking spaces at the Lodge.Overall an this was an excellent experience in a lovely part of the world.

Full of character!

We stayed here just for the night as we were in a dressage competition on the Sunday. This place is full of character and charm. We received a lovely welcome and the room was absolutely charming. A couple of pubs and restaurants in walking distance makes eating very easy. The breakfast was more than ample for us with warm pain au chocolat, croissants and rolls. Different milks too! Lacto-free and skimmed included. On the whole, a very pleasurable stay even if we didn't do that well in the competition! Highly recommended

Best BandB we have visited

Beautiful little country B and B in a stunning village. Was greeted by a very friendly and welcoming lady and her cute dog on arrival and settled in very nicely. Room was exactly what we were looking for with lovely views over the garden and the included breakfast was the perfect way to start the day. Thank you for an amazing weekend stay, couldn't have asked for a more relaxing 30th birthday at 8 months pregnant! We will be back once baby is born!
