Amazing sea views & sun sets
thegeorgiegirl1on 09/11/2017 09:22This is a nice hotel with the best views around. Even in the last week of the season in October, we were treated to fabulous sunsets most nights. The bungalow with sea view & private pool was just right for a small family. We chose this very expensive hotel partly for the child facilities. Unfortunately they didn’t tell us on booking that the kids club was not taking under 3’s because they didn’t have enough staff at the end of the season (even though I checked by email about using it for our baby). We were able to use the nice kids club play room which had lots of baby toys but only with or baby, not leaving him. The small play park was really fun & lived by our baby. We intended to use the babysitting service but for various reasons didn’t but good to know it was there. So we ended up not really using the baby services so could have stayed somewhere cheaper!
The beach location is great. The pool was pretty cold in October and there is not a kids indoor pool. There’s a spa pool with jacuzzi but families can only use this from 10-11am. The restaurants as people said are very expensive. The buffet restaurant is very good however so get half board & use this for dinner! I was surprised they didn’t have kids food in the buffet restaurant for a family friendly restaurant. But we just mashed up the adult dishes like moussaka for our baby. They had high chairs in the restaurant and they were very kind when we made a massive mess each meal time!
It is worth noting that the nearest kids hospital is in Thessaloniki. After an accident we had to make the 3 hour round trip there. The hotel wouldn’t take us but booked us a 300 Euro taxi.
The staff were all lovely and mostly helpful. There was a range of activities going on but we didn’t try many.
The main town is only less than 10 min drive but hotel charges 15 euros for a taxi one way. There’s a free shuttle a few times a day. You can book a taxi directly with a company for 10 euros if you can’t name shuttle times. It’s certainly a cheaper option to eat lunch in town & there are a number of good restaurants. I would actually hire a car if I came again.
Relaxing Place
meduc11on 07/11/2017 10:16The resort is quite isolated on the coastline close to Ouranoupoli; a nice place to relax. If you want to get around a rent car is recommended. Staff is very friendly, prices (especially for drinks) are at the upper level. The rooms we had were quite badly soundproofed.
The hotel offers frequent transportation to the villages nearby. Make sure you are at the drop offs/boarding locations in time or even before schedule - the drivers apply some flexibility to the schedule. We were left in Ouranoupoli after a just-in-timed arrived of the cruise ship (cruise arranged through hotel) because the shuttle has already left back to the hotel.
Stunnign sunsets
Susan Hon 04/11/2017 18:26Personal transfer from airport to hotel (about 1.5 hours) Greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. Lovely well appointed room with stunning views over the sea. Plenty of hanging and drawer storage. Comfortable beds and soft linen. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Hotel reception and public area spaces were amazing. Beautifully appointed with plenty of seating. The pool area has limited sunbeds and space but who needs it when there is a beautiful beach with more than enough sunbeds. Beach toilet and changing facilities. Beach bar and waiter service. Chilled water and fruit available. The grounds are stunning and the service from everyone was excellent. The buffet breakfast selection was plentiful. Freshly cooked eggs to order. So much choice. The evening buffet was also an excellent standard with many choices of hot and cold food. Desserts were so lovely, we just couldn't resist and ate several every day!! We enjoyed every meal. Well done to the kitchen teams. It was a fabulous week we felt 100 % recharged at the end of our stay. I look forward to returning soon.
5* holidays
tzitzei8on 03/11/2017 11:44We spent amazing time at this hotel. First you meet beautiful gardens, green everywhere and the view is something you just can't describe.
The room was really comfortable and clean, providing anything we needed but just a little bit old.
There are many places you can visit such as the bar for drinks with live music and different restaurants for any taste. Our favorite was the buffet restaurant, for breakfast and dinner. Excellent food and servis Many thanks to Christina for being always there making sure that we just have everyrhing.
There are also organized small trips around for anyone who's interested. We really enjoyed spending our day at the beach bar since the weather was still warm enought.
Thank you!!!
See you next year!
Autumn break luxury chillout week!
maxnpaddy2017on 31/10/2017 10:35We have just returned from a lovely end of season week at Eagles Palace, three days before it closes until April. The excellent service and facilities, including the choice and quality of food, was in no way ‘winding down’, even though it was quiet and with fewer guests than in earlier weeks, I’m sure. Apparently the weather was better than it often is in the last week of October, which suited us fine. Four of the seven days were sunny and suitable for Pool and beach relaxing, which made the cooler rainy days more bearable!
We were impressed by so many things - the hotel’s mini bus service from and to the airport (despite it being a 1 hour 45 min transfer time); the spacious rooms, views, decor and furnishings around the hotel; particularly impressive, well kept gardens and landscaping on different levels all around the site, right down to the beach areas, with well placed seating areas to make the most of the sun and views while enjoying the colours of the flower beds and other plants. All of the staff, from reception and guest services to restaurant, bar, cleaning and housekeeping, etc. were efficient and friendly.
A great value trip was the Mount Athos cruise along the coastline, 3 hours and just 20 euros each (low season price, presumably), with transfer to the boat at Ouranoupolis on the hotel minibus.
In the town we also found a small, local grocery shop from which to buy a few provisions for in our room (the package was half board) so that we could enjoy a beer or wine when sitting on our balcony, as the hotel bar prices are high if using that exclusively.
We were there as a couple, minus our children or grandchildren but as it was half term there were many families there and we enjoyed seeing how much they all appeared to be enjoying themselves.
We didn’t use the gym or spa facilities ourselves, just popped in for a sauna and jacuzzi one day, so can’t comment on treatments but it’s a very nice facility.
All in all, a great experience for our first time in mainland Greece. It has made us think of going back sometime, perhaps a warmer September trip, as it compared favourably to some long-haul, expensive trips to the Caribbean that we have been on - and the sea is as clear as glass - beautiful!
