What People are saying

Great Hotel

PeterSchnhrr on 19/11/2017 11:32

I stayed at the east in Beijing for two nights on a business trip. I've seen a lot of hotel in Beijing on numerous trips, the east is definitely on top of the list.
Clever details in the rooms, modern, yet cosy interior design and finally personell that speaks english well.
Everything about the east made my stay relaxing. Hope to be coming back someday.

Perfect Hotel

Traveller_Oldie on 14/11/2017 13:57

Wonderful 5 star hotel with conference facilities. Located right next to the Indigo shopping centre where can can find all popular brand stores. The breakfast is a feast, offering both Asian and Western food choices.

Elegant, stylish hotel that thinks of everything

DragonladyHK2014 on 12/11/2017 12:43

This Swire hotel sets a higher standard than any I have stayed in in its price range. The rooms are comfortable, elegant, and well thought out, while the art work is truly exceptional. I was only there for a night, but it is adjacent to a high-end mall that itself has a distinct arts flavor and many wonderful restaurants.

Excellent for business and private

Thomas H on 12/11/2017 07:15

Regularly staying at East with my team of more than 20 team members and spent some 89 days in 2017 eventually including both standard as well as Exec levels.

Good:
Attentive, courteous and friendly staff throughout, true welcoming atmosphere where names and preferences are remembered
Clean and silent rooms, efficient and silent air-conditioning, available extra air cleaners on demand
Giant comfy and clean beds with plenty of pillows
Stable and reasonably high speed internet connections
Good business facilities on 2nd floor and working options in the rooms (desks)
Ideally situated right next to Indigo shopping mall with plenty of shops and restaurants
Ideally situated right next to Jiangtai subway line 14
outdoor sport option for nearby jogging including Chaoyang park (2 stations)
Great bar facilities with seating outside and newly set up beer craft container
Reasonably sized gym with air cleaners present

Improvement potential:
Limited western (English) TV programs besides BBC, CNN and National Geographic
The pool water tends to give me red eyes so goggles suggested

Amazing Hotel, Even Better Service

Dan W on 06/11/2017 10:31

This is going to be a bit of a long one, so be prepared!

I visited the hotel a while back whilst an event was being held for pet adoption, it was my first time in the area as it’s a bit far from where I live, but I realised the hotel looked amazing, and is conveniently attached to a very nice mall, with a few more western brands and nice restaurants. It was here at East where my partner and I met our lovely little puppy and made the decision to adopt her.

The story progresses a bit more over a year, where I decided to ‘pop the question’ and ask my girlfriend to marry me. Beijing has some nice places but none that were nice enough that had a special meaning to us, until I remembered East. It’s a long winded story and I won’t go into it, but many preparations were made and I decided not only to propose here, but to stay the night before myself and then the following night (hopefully!) as an engaged couple.

My one and only complaint about the hotel, is that, knowing this is what I wanted to do, I had a friend help me call the hotel to see if they might be able to arrange anything special or if they’d done something like this before, etc. Being a very special time for the both of us, I wanted to see if they were able to perhaps prepare the room in a special way or had any current offers on nicer rooms. Maybe it was a bit cheeky of me, but still, it happens a lot, unfortunately, whilst helpful, the staff on the phone had basically said to book an ordinary room through a travel agent as this hotel was part of a chain and they didn’t really do anything special, which shocked me somewhat, but never mind.

On checking in, I had booked through a Chinese travel agency, and they hadn’t organised my name or booking number correctly. The staff were very helpful and even helped to call the agency and try to sort things out.

Getting into my room, I loved the futuristic doors that were flush with the wall – no handle. The main control panel to operate the rooms lights and blinds were fantastic; the shower and bathroom were massive; the bed was very comfortable; everything was very nice for a standard room, very clean and very comfortable, although it took me until the day of checking out to realise where the fridge and kettle, etc were, I don’t know if I was being stupid, but it was pretty well hidden, it wasn’t much of a problem though, as I was preparing for the following night’s proposal.

In preparation for the proposal, I’d been to the front-desk, to explain my story, and that I wanted to book a table in the restaurant and prepare a nice bottle of champagne to be chilled and to be able to take some glasses with it outside. The front-desk staff were incredibly helpful (I’ve unfortunately forgotten the helpful gentleman’s name), he called the restaurant manager down, Sangeet, who then took me up to look at the restaurant, show me the menu, and allow me to choose my table. He was incredibly friendly and helpful, he made sure I knew what we’d get and that we’d have a lovely dinner. His staff were also great in helping me organise the chilling of the champagne and the glasses, and kept quiet about the whole thing when we came for dinner. A friend of mine came to pick up the bottle to take outside along with the other preparations.

The restaurant deserves its own review, it was amazing! The amount and quality of food and drink on offer was staggering, far better than I could have ever hoped. Sangeet even followed up with me after to check everything went well and that we enjoyed the meal and stay in the hotel, this is the kind of service I hope for everywhere I go.

To keep from going on too long, we made our way downstairs and outside, to where we’d met our dog for the first time, after a short walk through the adjacent park, I popped the question, she said yes, and we popped the champagne! All in all, a fantastic success!

We followed with some drinks in Xian bar, where the live music and ambience was perfect, beers from Slow Boat were a nice treat, if you’re into craft beers. Our friends ate the food and spoke very highly of it (the poor guys didn’t get the treat we did upstairs!), again, another fantastic experience in a fantastic hotel.

TL;DR: The hotel is very clean, staff are friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, rooms are well kept and modern, bar and restaurant were of 5* quality and fantastic value for money!
