We had a family member in critical care at Vidant Heart Institute across the street for over a month. This inn was close and convenient to go back and forth. The inn has an "A" rating for health, (a few points higher than the hospital). The owner and his family were very kind to us. Could use some updating, but overall comfortable, totally suited our needs at the time.

East Carolina Inn is a budget hotel, so don't expect a lot. It did have things that were most important to me and my husband. The rooms are dated but clean. We had a king room which had 5 pillows on the bed. The room has a microwave and fridge, both functioning. The WiFi was easy to access, reliable, and fast. The shower had good water pressure. The towels are better than what you will find at most budget hotels. The staff was all friendly except for the lady at check out who we had to wait until she finished her cigarette before we could check out. Truly the only negative side of this experience. I was there for a honor society induction ceremony and PirateFest. The hotel is located close to the Uptown district, East Carolina University campus, and a lot of hospitals. Being right off of a major road there was a lot of sound of traffic and you could hear helicopters occasionally going to the hospitals. Nothing too major or disturbing. The property is certainly in need of renovation (old tube TV and dated furnishings) but it was clean and comfortable.

The location was the only redeeming quality of this hotel. The room smelled and there was a hole in the wall. The breakfast was lacking in choice and quality. My daughter's cereal was stale. I wouldn't stay here again.

The motel is older but appeared to be clean. An old tube TV rather than a flat screen which is very unusual in this day and age. The bed was very comfortable. One night, I discovered that the housekeeper had not replenished the coffee and I had to go to the lobby to get some. She had not washed out the coffee pot either. They had a continental breakfast that was very basic with three different pastries and two cereals offered. I left one night earlier as they jacked the price up from $60 to $95 because there was a college football game that night. I found a competitor around the corner for $60. The bed was very comfortable and I believe I slept better than I do at home.

Stayed one night. Arrived at midnight. 3.5 stars 27 trip advisor reviews! Really!!!! I rate it 0 stars. Found dead roach in bath room. Obviously did not live up or close to reviews! There has to be something better in the area. This place has no redeeming value!
