What People are saying

Nice stay for weekend

Antronkzo on 12/07/2016 15:55

Stayed in a couple of apartments with friends for the weekend. Both apartments looked the same inside and were pretty much like the photos.
Very clean and well maintained. We thought that there were two bedrooms in each apartment but only one with double bed and one double sofa bed.
Downsides - it's a lot further in to the centre that expected. Definitely not a 10min walk as advertised on some sites. It was 15-25 euros each way in taxi.

Decent pub around corner which seemed busy a the time Thurs, Fri and Sat and also the smoke palace around corner for those who indulge. Overall good stay, the stairs that everyone moans about are typical of Amsterdam, most hotels I've stayed in are like that as well so don't get to hung up on them!

Lovely apartment

pearl-may b on 04/03/2016 17:42

Apartment was absolutely amazing. Everything we expected and more. Amazing views from our balcony, great baths, lovely kitchen great design all over. However there were a few red ants in the apartment which upset our stay a bit. We contacted the staff via email and they sent someone over the following evening with a can of big spray.. this didn't fix the problem but at least they tried to address it. I don't know how the ants got there as the apartment was on the 5th and top floor of the building. I hope they fixed this before the next people got to the apartment! Luckily for them we weren't too bothered but other people would have made much more fuss!

Eastern Park Apartments booked through Voyage Prive

Casey G on 17/11/2015 09:55

This was the first time my husband and I looked using Voyage Prive, a site that advertises itself as an exclusive site for luxury accommodation, and we were shocked at the bad service and blatant lies in the advertising of this property. Firstly, I will say that had the property been advertised correctly (we wouldn't have booked it) but we would have been fine. However, the images used for this properties were taken before anyone stayed in the apartments and the state of the flat was as if they only rented it to young 20-something boys on binge weekends. More on that in a minute, but a MAJOR fail on Voyage Prive's part is that they never sent us an email with directions on how to pick up the keys for our flat. Judging from the images and the fact that there was no more info on our voucher I assumed there would be a downstairs reception as in a serviced building. There wasn't. We were lucky to bump into two guys (20-somethings in Amsterdam to party) who were also staying at the property and they were kind enough to give us the address of the reception office, which was about a 45 minute walk away. How can Voyage Prive make such an epic mistake? Imagine if we wouldn't have bumped into those guys! We even tried calling customer service but were unable to get in touch with anyone promptly.

So more about the state of the property...There were stains all over the sofa (so much so that we couldn't bring ourselves to sit on it at all), the curtain was half hanging down, a previous guest had broken a glass on the floor and there were small shards everywhere (we had to pick quite a large piece out of my husband's foot), it was advertised as a double bed but it was two very small singles pushed together (not ideal for a married couple) and the front door had to be lifted up almost out of the jam to open or close. This is luxury? To be straight, I do not hold this against the property as they were not the ones advertising it, this is down to Voyage Prive.

Good things about the property:
- clean
- located right next to a tram in a lovely residential area
- quite central
- great to have a kitchen
- reception was friendly

Bad things about the property:
- in bad disrepair
- we asked for more towels at reception (as in made the journey to the office again two days later) and they assured us it would be no problem, but they never came. It was absolutely pouring the whole time we were there and more towels would have been very useful.
- we mentioned the bad state of the front door and the girl at reception blew it off and it was very apparent she had no intention of doing anything about it
- single beds pushed together as a double slid apart in the night nearly leaving my husband in the floor
- we found a Primark bag under the bed (a store not in Amsterdam), cleaning services not thorough
- shower head was attached awkwardly to the wall and when turned on sprayed the entire bathroom every time (we pointed it to the corner which then caused it to flood half of bathroom floor)

If you are young and going to Amsterdam with friends this place is great or perhaps a young family with a small budget, no problem. But we purchased this as a luxury couples getaway and it was anything but that.

Stairway to hell.....

TAA00 on 18/10/2015 18:07

Where to begin with this absolute disaster! Firstly the staircase/apartment access is simply ridiculous. I am aware that small winding staircases are a feature in Dutch architecture, however a warning should most certainly be given with this accommodation prior to booking.
The stairs, of which there are 5 flights (inc entrance) descend into, what I can only describe as a ladder at the top. This is less than ideal especially if carrying luggage or if you have any mobility/breathing problems.
Prior to booking this I had read other reviews that mentioned the 'steep' steps...if I had of realised that they were in fact a dangerous, spindly, endurance test I would never have booked these apartments.
After mastering the Everest-esque ascent, we were pleased to find a nice, bright, tidy apartment, although much smaller than it appears in the images online. The furniture and colour scheme etc was very pleasant. However on closer inspection, we were horrified to find the stylish apartment had other 'guests'!
By other guests I mean ants...ants everywhere. Having travelled abroad often we are no stranger to such things, but we certainly did not expect to find an ant infestation in Amsterdam in the Autumn! I can only assume that this is the result of the poor waste management policy, ie no rubbish shoot in apartments and is only waste collected when guests leave even if the stay is up to 7 days.
Aside from the insects, the apartment itself was quite poorly cleaned and everything was rather scuffed.
Shelves missing, lights not working, overall it had a generally neglected feel with no attention to detail.
The bathroom facilities were relatively faultless by comparison and again quite nicely designed, although we were only provided with one bath towel each for a 4 day stay.
The word hell in the review title refers not only to the experience we suffered, but also aptly describes the temperature in the 'sleeping area'. It was unbearably warm and the sleeping area was in fact a mattress on a shelf.
I really can't put in to words how disappointed I was with this accommodation. It ruined our trip away and I would advise anyone not too book there if you wish to have an enjoyable stay in Amsterdam.
It is greatly over priced and the promised luxury is non existent. It is more akin to student halls than high end accommodation. Not only was it unclean, ant infested and dangerous to access, it was impossible to rest in.
At night it was too warm and during the day there was a total lack of privacy with maintenance men and cleaners entering the premises. Although nothing was fixed and nothing was cleaned... The whole stay was a complete disaster and to top it off a very important belonging of ours went missing from the apartment.
After we had been assured of the safety of the accommodation on check in. On reporting this after our stay the staff were utterly useless. Scam and rip off, are words that come to mind. Do not stay here unless you think you would enjoy a mountain climb,to a bug infested faux chic attic space where sleep in impossible and privacy and security are non existent.
