Clean, economical place to stay

I don't, as a rule, stay at Econolodge. However, I planned a trip with my kids to go canoeing and see the Parke County covered bridges at the last-minute, and this Econolodge was our only option nearby. It was really perfectly fine for a two-night getaway. Located right next to a covered bridge, just east of Rockville on US 36, about a ten mile drive to Turkey Run SP and all of its natural joys.
The room was clean and relatively spacious. The colors were a little dark, but the beds were comfortable and there was a small fridge in the room. bathroom was clean and functional. Room windows opened, and AC worked well and wasn't too noisy. breakfast was very basic, but perfectly serviceable. My only quibble was that queen beds would have been a better choice for a family of four...but I knew they would be doubles when I booked.
Service was friendly. Front desk directed us to the 36 Saloon to eat, just one block off the courthouse square in Rockville. Excellent BBQ in a relaxed atmosphere in the main restaurant, with one hellacious biker party going on right next door in the "Hog Pit" open air bar. Perfect people-watching from the safety of the more family-friendly 36 Saloon. this restaurant is reviewed elsewhere on Trip Advisor, and is definitely worth a visit for the decor alone.
Wherever you stay, be sure to pick up the free map of Parke County's covered bridges, which includes several marked driving tours to visit the bridges. My kids (17, 16 & 11) loved driving the back roads and checking out the bridges. I loved it, too.
Bottom line: Econolodge Rockville is nothing special, but is excellent for an Econolodge. As long as you're not expecting The Ritz, you'll be safe and comfortable here.

Our family had 2 rooms booked for a wedding last weekend. We checked in and had in town family to visit with in the evening. We turned the air on in both rooms before we left because the rooms spelled a little funky. When we returned late in the evening my husband and I went to our room and the 4 kids went to theirs which was upstairs. A short while later we received a knock on our door. It was 2 of the kids telling us that their bed had a wet puddle of pee in it. They even lifted all of the bedding and even the mattress and the pee was soaked through the mattress! My daughter and I went to the front desk and told the clerk and even showed her a picture. She made excuses about the housekeeping. They didn't have any available rooms to offer. I asked for bedding so they could sleep in our room. I was only given a set of sheets, a thin blanket and NO pillows! 2 kids ended up sleeping in our room but the other 2 had to sleep in the dirty room. The next morning I talked to that clerk and she gave me a refund for the 2nd night, as we were cancelling the reservation. She didn't offer to refund the first night until I told her I wasn't going to pay for it. All in all, it was horrific stay. We had to keep 1 room because we were in town for a wedding and needed a place to get ready. We will NEVER stay at this place again

This Econo Lodge is not a bad place to stay. It's a little outdated but clean and the management was very friendly. We canoed at nearby Turkey run state park. There were also many covered bridges in the area. Great experience.

Sometimes EconoLodge is not a good choice but the one in Rockville is top notch! We arrived about 12:30 and asked if by chance our room was ready. The gal said that it was and we immediately had a great feeling because of her friendliness and eagerness to take care of us. The room exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the LARGE King room. A very nice HUGE bathroom And CLEAN! The bed was very comfy. We in fact overslept the next morning. I wasnt getting wifi so went to the desk and once again the gal was quick to assist. She signed me in and I was good to go. We didn't try the breakfast but I did enjoy the coffee. The hotel is about a mile to the town of Rockville where we enjoy eating at the Thirty Six Saloon as well as breakfast at Benjamins. It is good location for getting to Turkey Run in less than a half hour. The only thing I noted that wasn't 5 star was the parking lot was small with some bumps and potholes but that was not an issue for us. I was hesitant at first to pay $100 (including taxes) for a hotel that normally doesn't rate well but after our stay we feel better about that rate. We have already booked another weekend for August!
Surprisingly Okay, But Overpriced

I stayed here for a wedding and was very pleasantly surprised. The Google reviews were awful but inaccurate. This hotel is dated but perfectly fine. The $100+ price tag, though? Pretty absurd. There are so few alternatives in the area that they sort of have you.
