Low cost, clean room. Beyond that, not much good to say. HVAC was loud and cooled only marginally. All 1st floor rooms being renovated. I'm handicapped, but had to climb outside stairway to 2nd floor room with luggage. No offer of assistance. He was the only clerk on premises, and couldn't leave the desk. At 6am, lobby was still locked with no access to coffee or breakfast. I won't return.

Great value for the price. Humble but honest. Clean, safe, quiet - all you need for a night or two. Fresh bedding, comfy pillows, simple breakfast (with surprisingly good coffee), fast check-in and check-out. After an awful experience at Americas Best Value In in Carbondale (at $100/night!), Econo Lodge felt like a fresh breath of motel air. Seriously - if looking for a no-frill, cheap, but clean and safe place to stay in Carbondale, IL, Econo Lodge is a solid choice. My only remark - the staircase (leading to the area around room #240) could be fixed to improve appearance and safety.

I stayed at this hotel for the first time. I went into the room, and it was filthy,stains in the carpet dirt all over,no hairdryer, broken furniture and someone else's hair in the shower. Another family member staying in a different room stated the same problems. I would never stay a this hotel again. I decided to stay there in the first place was it location to SIU for my daughters graduation which was the only positive.

Was up for my daughter's graduation and figured a chain hotel is a chain hotel, so why not? Wull, I'll tell you why not. Arriving at night, the crack-house-like exterior is frightening, holes, cracked and missing paint, just every affliction a building can suffer. Our 2nd floor room had been redone and was fine, however, there was no hot water throughout the weekend, it being fired up only on "special occasions", whatever those may be. The toilet didn't work until the long-suffering maintenance man arrived. The ice machine room smelled strongly of a gas leak, which I was told had been fixed, and that the smell was, in fact, carbon monoxide, so don't worry about it. (HUH?) It was so bad - one thing after another - we started crazy-laughing at one point.
Remarkably, the staff hold a positive attitude while working in a dreadful setting. Heaven only knows how.

This hotel is clean, with WiFi, fridge, microwave and cable. Banks, restaurants, and the grocery store are just a skip away. This is my last night of 4, and I had no problems getting a good nights rest without any loud noise or disturbances from outside. The price is good, and the front desk staff was very nice.
