Pretty run down

This was a pretty run down place. Lots of scruffs and scratches. Bad repairs and painting. Seemed clean. Old SD TV. Microwave, fridge. Had Internet but was slow. Bathroom door had a vertical wave and didn't close without force. The toilet rocked very noisily. Sink taps were reversed. When we arrived we noticed there was at least 4 rooms in a row (including ours) all rented. The room beside ours had a garbage can outside overflowing with beer bottles and cans. The next morning they were outside our door drinking, smoking and being loud. So we had to get up earlier than planned. We were into the "breakfast bar" before 8 AM. My husband had the last danish. He asked if there was more.. he was told there would be more tomorrow.... I had a waffle. I had to stand at the "bar" to eat. So I was in the way, but the only place to sit was 2 low, soft, high armed chairs. No tables. The plates were thin, floppy paper. There was also english muffins. Orange and apple juice. Will not be returning.
Okay but not well maintained.

The good:
Large modern TV
A.C. unit was effective and quiet
Fridge worked perfectly and freezer section froze our ice packs solid.
Plenty of hot water
Clean
Friendly staff
Coffee in the morning was good (but we had to buy our own real half and half)
The not so good:
Water faucet would not shut off
Tub faucet also drips
Hot and cold water was switched in sink. (Cold on left, hot on right.)
Exhaust fan was noisy.
Bed was NOT comfortable (cheap mattress?)
We were in room 205
We would stay again only if nothing else was available in same price range.
It was better than camping out.
Street side of the building seemed quite quiet. The other side may get noise from railway.
What a Mistake!

The hotel was clean, but that's about all I can say that's positive. The breakfast was small and they "ran out" of food and coffee, to boot. They must be understaffed, as the desk clerk seemed to be doing everything. Our room was not prepared for four people, although we paid for four people! There were only two bath towels. Overall, it was not a good experience and I would NOT recommend it!
Prices change dramatically but very convient location

Too many reviewers are mistaking this hotel for the Marriott or the Sheraton. It's just a 2 star hotel that tries to be a 3 star. It's just a budget motel and provides just the basics. Hence the econo in the name which refers to economy. However you do need to watch the prices because they fluctuate like crazy. One day the rooms will be $70 to $90, the next day the rooms go back up to full price $140.
The location is very convenient, its right off the main road that takes you into Kelso. It's also next to a gas station with a small store. The rooms are somewhat spacious and there is a flatscreen TV w/ a HDMI port. There was no coffee maker or iron or coffee mugs like some of the upscale hotels do. But its a budget hotel so I'm not expecting it. The wifi signal was strong enough to reach my Amazon fire stick and I was able to stream movies on the TV. My room was inside the building and above the lobby so I did not experience any outside noise like other reviewers. The beds were comfy but the pillows were either lumpy or flat. Soap, shampoo and lotion is provided as a squeeze bottle, which is a nice touch. I hate soap bars. Yes there is a dorm size fridge, a table and 2 chairs. The AC unit was terrible, I'm not sure if it needs a new filter or a new condenser but it was nothing more than fan.
The free continental breakfast was a joke, so just skip it. They don't put out much and the early birds just peck away at the juice, coffee and pastry. The only thing left is the pancake batter and the machine you use to make one. Horrible experience at 7am in the morning. Just go down the street to the gas station and get something there instead.
Economy hotel offers basic services

Good value for an overnight stay. Clean and comfortable room up a flight of stairs. Soundproofing is marginal, so noise from nearby rooms and the hall can be bothersome. Quite a way from the freeway, but easy to find. Train track behind the hotel is in active use, but didn't bother me.
