This place is disgusting. If you have a choice I suggest you keep driving or stop sooner. There are only 2 motels in whiteville. This one which is pet friendly and We had no choice (husbands work). I cleaned the entire room with clorox clean up, wiped every dirty light switch mirrors and shower, you get the picture. I found 3 cut straws with cocaine in the end. The carpet was filthy dirty. Room smelled like a dirty musty washer. Cleaned the dirty AC and used an entire can of lysol. The outside tree line was full of trash and shopping carts. Ferrell cats roaming around. Our personal items were stolen right off our window sill right under our noses. I would not call this a safe place to stay.
Not safe !!!!

We arrived right before 2am. We checked in and when we got to the room, our key didn't work. I went back to the office and the lady got attitude with me asking me if I even knew how to work it. She walked to the room with us, tried to open it herself, and guess what...it didn't work. She gave us another room. There were people standing in the doorway above us smoking Marijuana. A man tried to get my husband go around the corner to "ask" him a question. There were 4 people hanging out right outside our room all night. We didn't sleep at all. Cars pulled in and out all night. In the morning, everything looked fine and normal. If we would have checked in earlier, we wouldn't have noticed most of these things. My mom was on the other side and checked in early and thought things were fine.
The breakfast room is hard to find. The breakfast is all carbs: waffles, cereal, pastries. There was zero coffee when I went in there and no attendant to replenish things.
This location is central to restaurants and stores. There is a waffle house right beside of this hotel.
It was not the cleanest.
The room had a mini fridge and microwave.
Will not stay here again.
Adequate, but nothing special

The hotel was pretty clean. The only thing I noticed was a slight musty smell and a few stray hairs in the bathroom. The plugs kept falling out of the outlets next to the bed. Luckily, the ones in the bathroom worked fine and there was nifty little charging station attached to one of the nightstand. I didn't spend much time there, really only to sleep and shower. The bed was pretty comfortable, but there was a lot of noise coming from outside and other rooms. It is not in the best area either, so best to deadbolt and chain at night.
Clean and pet friendly

The Econo Lodge in Whiteville is one of a very few lodging choices. This hotel is clean with a friendly staff and very pet friendly. As a matter of fact, it is the only pet friendly hotel in Whiteville North Carolina. Many people think a pet friendly hotel is uncapped but that is far from what the Econo Lodge proved to be.
Disappointed

We stayed two nights here on business. There are only 2 hotels in Whiteville which is part of the problem. We asked for a quiet room. First night two families were put within two rooms of ours who had children & staying for a week. Not even remotely quiet. Problems with the room, the worst was the mold growing on the bottom door jam inside the bathroom. I have a picture of it. The sink when turned on sounds like a heavy duty blender. When I mentioned it I was told all the rooms are like that by a staff person. The 2nd worse problem is that the WIFI service after 9:00 P.M. is useless. It was like a bad dial-up service from the 1990's or didn't work at all. Front desk told me she would reboot which did nothing & gave me excuses. The thing is we stayed there several years ago and had the same problem. Could it be when the library closes next door the availability is nonexistent? The furniture is dated & not comfortable. It is 2 stories but no elevator. They advertise breakfast. However their "agreement" with Denny's next door was not available & gave us credit vouchers to use at either at the dreaded Waffle House or McDonalds across the street. If we have to go back to this area we will stay at a nearby city.
