What People are saying

Great, simple base at the top if a very steep hill!

choptime on 09/11/2017 23:07

This hotel is great as a base. We visted in late September so I imagine it would be very busy in peak season, but a quieter hotel suited us. The location of the hotel gives you a fantastic view if you have a sea facing room. If not there is a very large terrace where we would take breakfast or sit out till around 11pm. Unfortunately our room was at the back of the hotel so although the rooms were clean, they were quite dark and no sea view! The room had tv which we never used and a small fridge. The showers were not very powerful but adequate. Breakfast was simple continental breakfast so we were craving hot food after three days and the hotel didn't serve lunch or dinner but we found plenty of places to eat in the main town. There are no lifts so those who stay on the second floor may have to prepare to climb a lot of steps over their stay. The walk down to town is about 10/15 minutes. But took longer and we were considerably more out of breath, on thecway back up - particularly after a few drinks in town. The swimming area is small but great for catching the sun. I can't praise the staff enough they were kind and helpful- printing out our return boarding passes for us and helping us with phone calls or advice about excursions and bus routes. I would stay at this hotel again.

Hotel Eden Riviera and Acitrezza town

tonyholyoak on 07/11/2017 20:32

Arrived at airport and asked price to hotel. €45 was agreed. Left the airport and was shown a list by the driver that showed a €60 price. Had to swallow it. Total rip-off so get a guaranteed price before you get in the cab. Bad start. Hotel Eden Riviera is set above the town of Acitrezza and there's a 10 minute walk downhill to the town. A steep climb back so be aware. The hotel has a wonderful patio area that faces the sea and the view is spectacular. It also has a nice pool area at the back which was well kept. The hotel has a tired feel about it. Dated. It was clean with good service. The breakfast was passable with no complaints. A large lounging area was available to sit around but again strangely dated. Internet access was good. The town itself was full of restaurants and bars with the best bar being Mythos along the front. All restaurants we're good with excellent seafood on offer. A nice square to sit around and people watch with cushions supplied for the steps to sit on. The town itself was 'tatty' with rubbish in piles at various places. The fishermen seem to discard unsold catch straight into the sea including the polystyrene containers. Rubbish lapping at the water's edge was disappointing. Nice views of the tiny islands that are just off the coast and were accessible. Overall, like a lot of Sicily, just seems to be in decline and needs a shakeup.

Okay

This hotel is okay! Nothing fancy at all! Needs updateding.. not really a lot to do round the area. Breakfast not all that nice and then u have to trouble to not many places to eat near by... i actual lost 3lb (well i guess that kinda a pluss) the hotel defo needs updating and if it wasnt for easyjet adsivering fake picture we wouldnt of stay at this hotel. Also our room didnt have a balaoncy.. the only reason this hotel got 2 star was the staff was friendly. Also the hotel says it has a bar and resturante! It does not!! You have brealfast and thats it... they do sell some ice creams but not much. Also the hotel told me to book our extra trips when we got there but the only trip avaible to us was the etna trip (and this trip is amazing) but all the othet trips we wanted to do was unavavible to us! Very dissapointed. We are glad u have been to sicily but wouldnt go back to this hotel! Defenailty not worth the money we paid but this is mostly easyjets faults for fake pictures..

Good location with wonderful views

The hotel was clean and there were clean towels in the bathroom every day. Both bedroom and bathroom were rather basic.Sun poured onto the balcony in the morning and the view down to the sea was stunning. Rooms have a safe, aircon, sky TV, and a small fridge The staff were helpful, charming and responsive to requests. We had a few problems with mosquitoes at night and they immediately produced a bug plug for us. Breakfast was provided in Italian style and was OK with the usual array of hard boiled eggs, salami, pastries and chocolate cake.
Although there is not a bar as such, the receptionist was happy to pour beer or wine from the restaurant area or make a cup of tea or coffee outside breakfast hours.
Although the Hotel says it has a restaurant it only serves breakfast.
There are numerous very good restaurants 10 minutes walk down the hill in Aci Trezza.
The swimming pool area was lovely, the pool was clean and there were beautiful gardens surrounding it, and plenty of sun loungers.
We hired a car while we were there and visited interesting towns in the area; we think you really need a car for this hotel especially if the weather is not very good. There is a car park which is locked at night.
We had a very pleasant stay, but having said all that, this hotel is beyond tired! It really needs some investment or at least a coat of paint. There is no lift, which was not a problem for us.

Pleasant Stay

This is a lovely hotel but could do with a bit of updating. It was clean and spacious with panoramic views of Aci Trezza. No view of Etna. Due to low season the restaurant and pool was closed so cannot comment other than the pool area is located at the back of the hotel in a garden oasis which I think would be lovely in the summer. There is a fairly steep climb on a winding road (no pavements as such) to reach the hotel but going down is okay and leads you directly into the village. On the Friday of our stay we paid 30 Euros (a couple) for an entertainment evening with line dancing, all you can eat pizza and water. Any alcoholic drinks ordered were charged to our room. Bar prices are reasonable. The reception room on the ground floor was hired out for a private party on the Saturday of our stay which went on pretty late but was not too loud as to disrupt our sleep. Breakfast was of continental fare with the usual suspects of cold meat, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts, cereals, bread and cake. Fruit juices, tea and coffee. Ample to set you up for a day of exploring.
The reception staff were efficient and helpful. Florientina (not sure of the spelling) went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were cleaned daily.
We stayed in a small double with sea view. Small...not at all. Room is larger than you would expect. Balcony was large with table, chairs and the view was to die for. It was clean but there was a musty/damp smell probably due to the carpet. Wi-Fi was good. Sky TV channels, not many English and movies were pay per view.
I would definitely stay here again but in the summer season. Not because of the weather (16 degrees in December) but to enjoy all the facilities the hotel has to offer
