Pretty good actually.

We chose this place as it was in a good position for the airport and the city, because of the position offering good, on site free parking. The price was good because of the position too probably, by not being in the middle of town. The Greek guy on reception when we arrived was really nice and did a great job I thought helping and explaining things. The lady the next day was great too. Our room was really nice. Yes, ok, the carpet on the floor worried me a little bit as it looked a little used (not modern so to speak) and the walls/edging looked a little bashed about, but the fact is it was a clean, cosy and well equipped hotel for a decent price. We parked outside of our room every time, there was a cute breakfast room offering coffee, juice and toast, plus pocketed pastries (breakfast was nothing special but always a nice touch) and it all felt safe. The BART station is down the road, about a 5 minute walk or so allowing you to get to downtown San Francisco in about 25 minutes I think, all for $7.20 return per person, which cuts out any of the stress of parking. So, a really good stay actually. The only thing was the WiFi was a quite unreliable, even if there were 5 different signals you could connect to. So, they just need to improve that mainly.
BAD WIFI

If you don't need WIFI this might work good for you. Basing my rating on WiFi and attitude of mgmt. Basically, the attitude is, you get FREE WiFi, parking and breakfast...Therefore, if the WIFI doesn't work, well, it's free. Also Daly City gets very cold, so keep in mind the heater may not work, so you may wake up freezing. I think it was 44 F. degrees. And no heat in the a.m. Be prepared. I just expect WiFi to work if it says it comes with Free WiFi, because I like to use it for an hour or so. And sometimes, things are important that you might need WiFi.

Recent heat wave at SF during the last week of August till mid September 2017 got everyone cooking. Rooms does not have a/c. Reception told us only when we check in. This was not indicated in the website (Booking.com) we book.
Bathrooms were renovated which was nice, but bed was extremely soft.
Stayed for 2 nights and we everyone staying there had to keep their room doors open till pass 11 pm when it was cooler before going to bed.
Helpful staff but otherwise pretty average

Arrived late but staff waited for us to arrive which was helpful. Room was ok for 1 night but it is not great for a longer stay. Breakfast was very basic and there was not enough room for more than a couple of people at a time.
Don't stay in San Fran!!

While preparing for our trip I looked at scads of places in San Francisco, didn't like any of them, well except for the $200+ a night places (way outside our budget). Sometimes when we travel to a big city we stay outside and take public trans into the city. El Camino is perfect for that. 2 blocks from the train, BART, station. Nice area, unlike downtown which doesn't have a nice area. We walked home at night and felt safe. Not so much downtown. Breakfast across the street at the donut shop, train station, and within 20 minutes we're downtown San Fran. We believe this motel is one of the older travel motels you used to find on highways. Smaller rooms, older style. We actually like that! Rooms had everything we needed for 2 days, plus they were clean and quiet. Claudine (please say HI for us) was VERY helpful, going out of her way to help make our trip enjoyable. We can't stress enough, if traveling to San Francisco stay out of downtown. El Camino is a super place to stay during your visit.
