Best hotel in Arcos

Loved the location, each room had a balcony or porch. Nice indoor bar area and a large terrace with wonderful views. Only negatives would be parking and wifi was spotty. Close to lots of good local restaurants. The local bus stops just up the street and the round trip is well worth it.
For the view - perfect...even if everything else isn't!

We stayed here in September 2017 and went strictly for the VIEW and relaxation! For the low price we paid and the huge veranda, it was worth any inconveniences we came across. We didn't have a car and I would never drive in the tiny towns anyway; there is limited parking that the hotel can not control.
The room itself is fine, nothing fancy, but if you love views...it is the best. As some people say you could stay in the Paradore next door but it's twice as expensive.
Our daytime receptionist was really kind. The night/morning receptionist was a bit cranky! You have to wait till 8 am to get coffee. The kitchen helper was very cranky. Our door to the veranda was broken but usable but when I mentioned it to the receptionist, she said it wasn't! Our veranda umbrella was broken and all the receptionist said was sorry. Even though there wasn't anyone next door, she said it was booked and wouldn't switch out the umbrella's, so we did it our self!
Surprisingly, I'm still giving the hotel a 4 star review because we went there for the view and it did not disappoint. It was too hot during the day but in the evening, we were in heaven. We had wine both nights in our chaise lounges and soaked in the views. I'd go again just for that especially for the price.
There is a restaurant down the alleyway with rec and white polka-dot planters outside...go there for lunch or dinner. it is the BEST!!!
There's not much to do in Arcos but it's worth a stop for the evening to unwind and enjoy when you can eat well and have a dynamic view. We walked one mile up the hill with our carry on and backpacks and we're in our late 50's. It was worth it!!!
Could Be Better

Comfy bed and quite, both very important. But that mostly sums up the highlights. Wifi only worked in the lobby, the breakfasts were a few items only and the bath had a sign saying not to put toilet paper in the toilet! Enough said.
Wonderful view

If you visit this hotel, be aware of the helpful waiters from a restaurant.
They may cause confusion, who to pay or what to pay, while unpacking your stuff.
The hotel is good. Rooms are clean and the size is ok.
But then the view.
I think it's spectaculair.
We had a wonderful terrace, so sometimes, after a tiring day, I took 30 minutes to sit in the lovely windy sun, enjoying the view and the feeling of wealth.
Because that's the feeling you get.
Note: in our case we parked our car at the Los Olivos hotel parking. And then took a taxi to El Convecto.
Ideal. But if you want to leave (it was sunday), make sure you call the taxi early.
Cause our 'Your taxi will be here in 5 minutes' made us wait for at least 45 minutes.
great stay, fabulous views

this hotel was recommended by travel guide Rick Steves. We stayed in his named suite with great views of valley below.
Hotels is quite difficult to get to by car.
Parking at the top of the hill is only two blocks from hotel.
Driving in old town Arcos is not for the faint of heart.
Once you park you don't need to move till departing, everything is within walking distance.
