I had such an amazing time at El Sabanero. So perfect that I changed my flight so I could stay 2 extra days. It was the perfect place to get centred with quiet and relaxation. The staff (friends) were incredible. Super accommodating and friendly. Harold would drive us where we wanted to go and if not him, they had a driver Fernando who was also great! The location is great because its 15mins from Tamarindo. The food was AMAZING - all vegetarian which was a nice touch and different everyday/every meal, the soups were so good! My private chalet had a breathtaking view and hammock.
The best part of course was the yoga, the morning instructor - Hector was awesome, everyday the yoga was different. I came back home more knowledgeable to lead my own practice when I can't go to a class. All the afternoon classes were also different and i feel stronger than i was when i went there.
Sabine was awesome! She is the hostess/yoga teacher. She had such a good vibe and energy, warm, and welcoming. Couldn't have asked for a better person to be on this experience around. I have come home a changed person.
I would recommend the all day excursion where you go ziplining, tubing, and visit the hot springs - couldn't ask for a more full experience. It was a super fun day. Also we went to Avellanas beach club for the day, i would recommend doing this.

It was quiet, relaxing, and BEAUTIFUL! The food was delicious and the staff was extremely accommodating. The lodge wasn't too far away from the town and beach either! Loved the area and will definitely be back!

The food is amazing, the people are amazing, the pool is spectacularly beautiful. The yoga den is serene and incredible with wonderful instructors who are pure of heart. This place is a short car ride to the beaches of Tamarindo. It is also close to the jungle and many daytrips are possible from this location. We saw a huge iguana! This is a great place for kids if you have them. It is also a wonderful place if you are travelling without kids.

El Sabanero lived up to its great reviews. Everyone who worked there was warm, welcoming, interesting and talented. The lodge provided the perfect balance between community and solitude. I'm not very practiced with yoga, but the two classes a day got me hooked and helped me gain confidence with some postures that I always found difficult. Hector Moreno and Sabine Wienerroither were both wonderful teachers. They each had their own very different style, but each challenged me in the best way, all while offering wonderful insights, wisdom and motivation. Beyond the yoga instruction, I really enjoyed them as people too. Hector took my group on an incredible sunrise meditation walk through the jungle where we saw lots of birds, butterflies and howler monkeys. Sabine always offered a philosophical perspective on life that was interesting and thought provoking. She was great company. The food Donald and Hazel cooked was amazing and tasty and well thought-out. One night was Indian themed, one night Middle Eastern, one night Italian (etc) -- so beautifully and thoughtfully prepared and simply delicious. Kort was a wonderful host, and took me to various nearby beaches. The accommodations were simple, and no frills but I liked them. There could be better water pressure in the cabins, and hot water took a while to kick in, but it is an eco lodge and this is a minor complaint. I'll be back.

I had an amazing, adventurous, and life changing experience at El Sabanero. I was warmly welcomed by owners Harold and Kurt from the moment I arrived. Hazel and Donald made the most delicious meals everyday and went out of their way to ensure all guests were well taken care of. They even accommodated me being a vegan. So very appreciated! Sabine and Hector were two of the most caring authentic yoga teachers I have ever met. Both such beautiful souls. I truly enjoyed their classes and talks. The most memorable experience for me was being surrounded by like-minded people in a supportive, relaxed, and loving environment. I didn't want to leave! I left with an open heart and new friends for life:)
