Only stayed one night but the owners were very friendly, the room was clean and a little quirky. Nice little pool and great sea view.
The owner is an artist and many of his works adorn the small hotel.
The room was comfortable but I was woken by the pool pump at 6.30.
We would stay here aging if visiting the area.
Simple Cretan hospitality

A little Cretan home from home. We stayed here for 5 days while visiting family and attending a wedding. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and we felt relaxed and 'at home' within minutes of arriving. The apartments themselves were small and basic, but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was lovely to stay somewhere with traditional Cretan décor, instead of a bland modern apartment with no personality.
The gardens are very tranquil with lots of secluded shady areas to sit and relax, whilst looking out at the beautiful view. Our children enjoyed the small pool, which was perfect for them to play in and cool off.
The property is a short walk from a small beach and children's playground, and the excel Kri Kri taverna, and a short drive (or pleasant 15 min evening stroll) into the lovely town of Aghios Nikolaos.
Basic but brilliant.

2 small children, myself and my wife stayed 4 nights at Eliza. It can't be described as luxury but it was very clean and very comfortable. Really have nothing negative to say and would highly recommend. George the proprietor was very welcoming and friendly. Had many excellent coffees and much raki whilst we stayed, all on the house. The location was quiet and the actual grounds were very comfortable and pretty. Swimming pool kept kids happy. We left far more relaxed than we arrived. Would not hesitate to go back for a short stay but maybe not for any length of time as kitchen and bathrooms a bit small and basic. Good value and Melanie the house keeper was very nice and always had time for a chat and a smile.
Great holiday

The apartments were really personal and homely. The owner, George, is a fantastic painter and had his art work hanging up in all of the apartments. Upon arrival and throughout our stay we were all given iced coffees and raki which was a real treat!
The apartments are a few minutes walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. You can walk a further 10/15 minutes into the lively town of Agios Nikolaos.
I would definitely stay here again!
Stay to experience Cretan hospitality!

We stayed three nights at Hotel Eliza. We had arrived for a wedding and wanted a hotel that was close to the venue. I chose Hotel Eliza because it is run by a local family rather than a huge company.
We were greeted on arrival at 11 pm with a friendly face (the son) and he offered us some raki. The owner, George, welcomed warmly us the next day, asking us to have coffee with him. He recommended we visit the very old St Nikolaos church on the hill opposite, which was built 7-9th C. I would also recommend you visit. It was a highlight. You must collect the large key from an expensive hotel further up the hill.
Hotel Eliza is not a luxury place, but it is clean and friendly. We felt very welcome there. We also had a lovely talk with Melanie; she cleans the rooms (and feeds all the cats!) each day. We enjoyed the pool, which is perfect size to cool off in the heat. There are lovely views across the bay and to the mountains in the distance. We enjoyed eating our breakfast on the terrace. The hotel is easy walking distance to the nice beach on the way into town where we enjoyed an evening swim off the rocks. There are plenty of cafes, a supermarket, and restaurants near the hotel or you can easily walk to the restaurants in town. We would definitely stay there again when we visit Crete and we would like to thank the family for making us feel so welcome. Dawn and Nicholas.
