Embassy suites is in close proximity to many great restaurants and the Riverwalk. Coupled with the fact of a free breakfast in the morning and free drinks in the afternoon, this hotel has a lot to offer.

I accompanied my husband on his business trip and enjoyed shopping for three days on the Magnificient Mile and nearby State street. DSW, Ross, Marshalls, TJMaxx, Nordstrom Rack, Neiman Last Call and Sacks off Fifth all with in walking distance. The hotel and staff were lovely. Breakfast was the best I've ever had, they even have a cooked to order line, but the buffet was so good I never used it. Quality meats and fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, pancakes, and Seattles Best coffee. The two room suite was perfect, my husband could watch sports and I could watch movies. In room mini fridge and microwave and coffee maker. Great wifi. Whole Foods grocery right across the street for snacks or even carry out meals. The $47 a day self park allows in and out privileges if you are brave enough to drive in Chicago! Our bed was comfy too, and the hvac was quiet.

Overall terrible experience. Paid extra for premium service and could not even get closer se to the evening reception...too crowded, breakfast was terrible and room service was cold. Check in was a joke, then waited at our room for over 35minutes for maintenance to reprogram our door because our keys didn't work. Don't waste your money here.

The Embassy Suites on North Columbus in Chicago is a very well located and newer property. That being said, it is not up to the standards that I have learned to expect from Embassy Suites. The front desk help was mediocre at best. Our "upgraded" room was next to the elevator and was extremely noisy. Their cocktail hour had weak hors d’oeuvres and while having two bars, only had one staff member at each bar. The morning breakfasts were much better. The concierge was off duty by 6:00 each night. And the doorman, was not present when we would come home from dinner. The rooms were well appointed and the TVs had a load of channels. It was just what the hotel offered beyond the room, which drove our rating.

The hotel is very busy and check in can take a while. They offer breakfast in the lobby but go early. You have to take 1 elevator from the entrance to the lobby and then another set of elevators to the rooms. The rooms are dated but comfortable, overall a nice stay in downtown
