What People are saying

Tired, in need of major refurbishment

Joan Bon 13/06/2017 01:00

Very friendly and helpful staff. swimming pool good and very welcome on a hot day. But, dear oh dear, building, rooms, linen, breakfast all poor. White towels and sheets were grey. Bulbs missing from lamps. Wouldn't walk on carpet in bare feet. Surfaces sticky.

Could Use an Makeover

Checked in after 8.00 pm, we were passing through, stopped at the first motel we saw. Price was okay, at $57.00 per room, but you get what you pay for. We dropped our bags and headed out for dinner.

Returning to rooms very tired, I know I should have checked the room first before jumping into bed, as I might have spotted the roach on the bed! Woke early to find it staring at me, ugh.

The room was okay, a little musty, but otherwise clean, bathroom was clean, towels were overused and hard, but plentiful and clean. A flatscreen tv was provided but not used, same for coffee maker.

Breakfast was the usual baic fare, pancakes, three cereal options, bread for toasting, apples. There was orange juice, and Community coffee, which is always disgusting no matter where you get it.

The lady in reception was very courteous, checked the rooms before we entered, to make sure they were presentable. Car parking was plentiful. There was a pool, but given it was still April, was covered for the winter period.

Overall, this is a very dated motel in serious need of investment and modernization. Come the following morning, there were only about eight other guests, for this large motel, which tells its own story.

Super friendly staff

To start off the staff was extremely friendly & went above and beyond to make my stay here comfortable. The lovely lady at the front desk gave me several recommendations as to different sites to see here in town. Overall a very quite stay. They serve waffles shaped like Texas for breakfast which was neat. The rooms were okay. They had a flat screen tv in my room.

Just great for the price.

We stayed at the Emerald Inn Expo in Abilene on Sunday the 26th March 2017, we were placed in a very nice room just past the outdoor swimming pool. For the price, the room was really good and we received a very nice welcome from the receptionist upon arrival. Leaving the following morning was different matter, the lady should really have stayed in bed that day, fed up with her attitude, we just walked out and did not check out properly, but there is only so much rudeness one can stand.
Inside our room was free wi-fi, and I measured it at 9.77mbps download, and 8.62mbps upload, which we thought really very good.
We had planned to eat next door at a restaurant called the Town Crier, but it was closed down left derelict. After 6 hours driving, we had to drive again into town for some food, but in no way was that the fault of The Emerald Inn.

Abilene is a lovely place and we will stay again at the Emerald.

You can always believe my reports because I used my real name and photograph.

Checked into this establishment after experiencing a horrible time at an other motel in Abilene. We were greeted by friendly staff that went "out of their way" to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible.
