I have been visiting Veracruz on business since 2006. I love to stay at the Emporio and it's largely due to the fantastic and friendly staff. My preference is to stay on the PEMEX side of the motel, overlooking the Plaza and Navy Academy. It's generally quieter on the upper floors and an additional benefit is a complimentary breakfast & evening Canape' buffet for "exclusive" customers of the 7th and 8th floors. I think it's great - and convenient, especially for working people. There are 3 other restaurants also... so try them ALL. The water and ice are safe for Americans (important to me!)... and so is the food. I've never been sick from anything I got at the Emporio. The pools (3) are well maintained and refreshing! The Spa has massages and other treatments. No wonder I like this home away from home!

I had stayed at the Emporio once as a young adult and knew it to be in a good location. However, this visit 35 years later surpassed all my expectations. The hotel itself has been completely renovated and is now air conditioned. The decor is modern and simplistically elegant. The 3 pools, exercise room and spa are first class and the room was very comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe room with an ocean view, so we could see the Malecón and the ships entering the harbour. The breakfast buffet, served from 7am, I believe, to noon is truly amazing! There are so many choices of breads, fruit, fresh-squeezed juices, hot dishes, soups, and a grill where a chef stands ready to cook eggs al gusto, huevos rancheros, etc. The dinner buffet was equally impressive, albeit with fewer choices.
While the actual hotel and the food were next to perfect, the staff is what made our stay so delightful. From all the staff at the desk (including Enrique and José), to Isael, Daniel, Lucy and all the staff in the restaurant, to Adele who cleaned our room, everyone was eager to help, friendly and courteous. I cannot say enough about the people who work there. They are first class all the way!

This hotel was just excellent. It is situated right at the Veracruz marina. As we came here for the carnival the hotel had an outstanding view over the festival going on right at its doorstep. Management was a bit poor here, as we had to enter through the back entrance as the front was blocked by barriers during the festivities.
They also have a divine restaurant in the ground floor, which I wrote a separate review about.
So if you are looking for a central location and over the top service this is the place for you.

We were here as part of a group. Also it was Carnaval. The hotel shows sign of recent upgrade/ refurbishment so all is nearly new but regardless it is very well maintained and clean.The staff are very friendly and helpful. A few minor hiccups were quickly corrected
It is perfectly situated for all attractions
We used the lounge, restaurant and pools and all were very satisfactory

I have stayed in Emporio Veracruz for business and family holidays once per year since 2012, it is simply a very good option in town. An old refurbished property which works perfectly in a great location. Rooms are well maintained, any trouble they will sort it out quickly, the pools, the gym SPA are just perfect considering you are in the town’s centre. Veracruz is not popular for its beast beaches, but the town’s atmosphere in the city centre is extremely nice and Emporio is the best spot for that. From your room you can enjoy specially Saturdays and Sundays the local beautiful life-style over Malecon, obviously, those rooms with sea/port view are the best; in a five mins walk you reach the main square Zocalo and its Portales, also the main street in town.
In 2 mins walk you have the famous Café Parroquia, which is quite good, but the breakfast restaurant Condimento in Emporio is just amazing!, the buffet-food is first class, locals use this restaurant for celebrations during breakfast, the price is reasonable for what you get. The sea food by the pool La Cevichería is also very good and fresh. The Club’s Breakfast on the top floor is very nice, but its buffet’s variety is not like “wow”!, it is more like a VVIP ambience, otherwise you feel lonely and like missing the nice atmosphere in Condimento every morning!!...in my view that roof terrace of the hotel should be converted into a great lounge restaurant!. I enjoyed it once during a night business function-event, which was superb, local lounge music, lounge lighting, drinks, view…couldn’t be better.
The best asset of this hotel is its staff and the service, in the Restaurant, by the pool, in the SPA, in Reception and Reservations the Concierges too…I have to mention Ismael, Melisa, Yoselin, Diego, Daniel, Juliana, Juan, Alejandra Francisco, Lucia Veronica, Carlos, Jose, executive chef Francisco, and Sergio, Ms. Estela and Ms Catalina preparing the eggs, quesadillas and much more… Ivan, Lupita, Mr. Sandro, Gerardo by the pool.... Reyna housekeeping... Miriam SPA,….uffff… I hope I didn’t forget any of them…ALL they are hard workers, in addition they got the time to smile all the time to be extremely friendly and ready to assist you any time making your visit remarkable.
I want to congratulate all staff working in Emporio Veracruz we are looking forward to our next visit.
