Not a 4 star b and b!

suemmyhill on 19/10/2017 21:20

We had a 2 night stay in room 1. 2 slats of the vertical blinds were missing, the lamps either side of the bed didn't work, neither did the light above the mirror in the bathroom. The towels weren't changed so we had wet towels on the second day. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast as stated on the breakfast menu. Overall very disappointing.

Weekend away

NO WiFi

I was in Rm.#7 for 5 nights with NO WIFI -  I had to go down stairs (breakfast dinning area) dealing with email & such. It was 31 stairs each way.
At the room sink, there is NO mirror in front of you! The shaving mirror is behind you and 4 feet over your left shoulder or visa versa.
It's a 15/20 min. walk into town center. Down hill going, up hill coming back.
The nearest & only pub/food, is a 10 minute walk.

The worse place we have ever stayed in, in our 15 years of coming to Whitby

The plus points, nicely located and breakfast is fine.
Negatives, we had the family room, number 12 which is totally dated, cheap plastic fixtures and fittings, dusty, rust round the bathroom mirror, discoloured grouting in shower, mound on both bathroom and bedroom vertical blinds and how it can be advertised as quality furnishings I don't know. The photos on their website show a lovely modern bathroom and bright airy bedroom, ours was neither, it was dark with one window which faced onto the window of next doors house! It was advertised as having White Company toiletries but all there was was two tiny phials of unknown make I assume shower gel, was so small I couldn't read it and it certainly wouldn't clean 3 bodies! All this for £120 a night, yes it was Folk Week and BH weekend but there is no way it is worth that price. Had I known I would never have committed to the booking through booking.com.

Great location

I visited for 1 night with my two children aged 9 and 12. Great base from which to explore whitby. We had a large and comfy attic room with a lot of character. Parking was on the main road Breakfast was good quality. Would stay again.
