What People are saying

Simple but perfect city hotel

KCass85 on 24/10/2017 21:00

Stayed here in Oct half term as a family of 5, accommodated all perfectly in one room. Clean & comfortable if not a little tired in its decor. Breakfast was included & very substantial for us all. Staff very friendly & helpful.
Great location right at the top of the Markt Square, plenty of restaurants nearby. Lovely little hotel, definitely would return & recommend.

Tired decor but good location

We stayed for 2 nights, 13 and 14 August 2017, in ground floor room 21. The hotel is situated in a quiet canalside street just a few minutes walk from the Markt square. Receptionist was pleasant and informative. Room was functional but basic. It was clean except for the shower curtain and below the waterline in the toilet. Towels were quite small and not very thick. There were sachets of shampoo and shower gel but no soap for hand washing and there was nothing to drink from. We had to fetch a tumbler from the breakfast room. No safe in the room either, but there is a hairdryer that worked quite well.
We were asked what time we wanted breakfast and said 9.30am but when we turned up at that time all the tables were occupied and we had to wait about 10 minutes. Then we had to request crockery and cutlery. Then the milk ran out, then the bread rolls ran out, so we had to keep requesting replenishment. All a bit symbolic. It was better the second morning as we had to have breakfast at 8am and only a few others were there at that time. The building adjoining the hotel is having major works done to it and we were awoken at 7.30am by hammering from the site which our room overlooked. On the second night we were badly disturbed by another guest who was unable to get into his room and was trying to find a member of staff, even though it was made clear when we checked in that there is nobody on reception after 10pm. The guest was ringing the desk bell and shouting loudly then he was banging on his room door, on our corridor, progressively loudly and shouting to his companion to let him in. In the end it sounded as if he was kicking or shouldering the door, to no avail. That was at 1.30am, then all went quiet.
There is a fire escape from the room but I would have been wary of using it and anyone with a disability wouldn't have been able to use it as its just a metal ladder and the courtyard it leads to is fell of weeds which are growing up the bottom rungs.
There were only 2 clothes hangers in the wardrobe and no drawers so if you are staying more than a couple of nights it would be very annoying. I wouldn't give this hotel 3 stars, just 2 stars. There is a bar but we didn't see it being used or any staff there. In fact the tables were laid for breakfast. Hope this is helpful.

Hmmm could be better

My husband booked this hotel as the final stop on our road trip before returning to the UK. Subsequently I didn't read the latest reviews until a couple of days before our stay. I was really worried! On the verge of booking somewhere else my husband persuaded me to see how it was and worse case scenario we just go somewhere else.

We were allocated one rood which had two single beds and a broken toilet. My husband mentioned it to reception and straight away they moved us to another room. Still just two beds but they said they would add a bed for my five year old whilst we were out sight seeing. Roll on bed time and my five year old refused to sleep in his bed - a babies travel cot. Suffice to say we shared a single bed so not the best nights sleep.

The rooms are quite small but if you're out looking around Bruges you won't be in your bedroom much anyway, it's a beautiful city. And the hotel is just a 5 minute walk to the main square so perfectly located. We were able to park outside the hotel which was great.

My main gripe unfortunately was the bathroom. It obviously hadn't been cleaned. There was one towel and the shampoo / soap etc hasn't been refilled. Next I noticed stains leading from the bin along the floor into the shower - i'm not exactly sure what it was but presume blood. Someone else's hair all over the shower too. Call me stinky but we left at first light without showers!

Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again, it just didn't feel clean. The hotel had more of a hostel feel to it.

Fire your cleaner and employ someone hardworking! You might quickly see your TripAdvisor ratings improve as the place has potential.

Disappointingly Filthy!

First impressions of the hotel are that communal areas and corridors are clean and in good condition. However, upon entering our room it was immediately apparent that it had not been cleaned for many weeks. Building work is going on next door, and whilst this may account for some dust it does not explain the very thick layer that covered almost every surface. Nor does it explain the pubic hair on the windowsill, the tissue and peanuts behind the bin, the black filth on the bathroom floor, the mouldy shower curtain, the dirty sockets, the stained toilet bowl... I could go on. We even had to keep shoes on in the room because the floor was making our feet so dirty. The price of the hotel is comparable to others in the area, so it doesn't seem to be true that you get what you pay for! I stayed here about six years ago, but won't be going back. Staff were neither interested nor apologetic when my partner complained, and this attitude sums it up. On the plus side, breakfast is good. There is a good selection of most things, although the 'fresh orange' is the strongest tasting cordial I've ever had!

Good Tourist Hotel just off the city centre

TnJuk on 18/07/2017 19:43

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the Markt Square. The staff were welcoming, friendly and offered advice about attractions, dining etc. This is a tourist 3* hotel and is good but basic. The room was clean and had all the necessary equipment.
Breakfast is served from 8am and has a full range of pastries, breads, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, boiled eggs and hot and cold beverages. The staff constantly were topping up each food tray before it actually ran out.
There is ONE secure private garage around the corner from the hotel which we strongly suggest using even though it's 20€/night. On street parking is 9€/4 hours!
A very good tourist hotel which we recommend and we would stay there again when we next visit.
