Short Overnight Stay - Excellent staff

My husband and I stayed at Extended Stay for one night before flying out of Midway airport for vacation. We didn't have any expectations and were just looking for something convenient to the airport for an early flight. We were immediately greeted by Chas at the front desk and he was fantastic. Super friendly and had a jovial personality! The room was what you expect for the price but the customer service is what made it great! We will stay again any time we have a flight out of Midway!

Having never stayed at this chain before, we had a good overall experience and would stay at this location again. While traveling for about two weeks for work, we needed a place to stay with a kitchen, which really limits choices of lodging (currently dealing with an unfortunate medically required specialized diet.) The room at this Extended Stay America mostly worked really well for us. The staff was great, which makes a huge difference. The room (including the kitchenette and bathroom) was clean. The room looked somewhat recently remodeled, and not worn out. We appreciated the two tables/desks and chairs so that two people can easily work on a laptop. The kitchen worked well enough; the cooktop has two small burners, but it got the job done. Access to the clean and fairly large (not quite full sized) sized fridge and freezer is really what enabled our ability to travel away from home.
The value was ok but not great - for the price, a few things should be better. The internet was very slow, making work difficult. The bed wasn't especially comfortable. The bathroom had a broken towel rack and no place to hang hand towels by the sink (but was otherwise nice enough). Small things, but the price per night was a bit high for the quality of the furnishings/finish materials/room in general.

We used Extended Stay America - Chicago - Midway. The shuttle service only operates from 7 in the morning until 7 at night and is not included in the hotel price. We used taxis to get to and from the airport. Will not recommend this hotel
Left after 15 minutes, Avoid if you have the means

Booked this hotel for a month stay here in the Chicago area with high hopes. First room I checked into had not been cleaned so I had to return to the front desk to change rooms. Second room was "cleaned" but was sub-par. Dead ants and long hair in the sheets after turning down the covers. Wi-fi did not really work, had to use my phone to book a room elsewhere. Went to front desk and got refund ASAP and ran in the other direction. I will never book a room at an Extended Stay hotel again.
PAYING TO BE HUMILIATED

I made my reservation two days before I left, and then one day before I left I called to confirm my reservation. I was notified that I have a smoking room on the third floor even though I asked to be place on the first floor in a non smoking room mainly because I am 60% service connected disabled. I drove from Cleveland to Chicago stopping only once to refuel then drove straight to the hotel. I arrived at the hotel ten minutes prior to check-in time, I really needed to used the bathroom so bad after that long drive. The attendant sent me away to find one at COSTCO, or somewhere around. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, so I rushed out drive around looking for a place that had a bathroom. I stopped by a nearby carwash place and plead with one of their workers who showed me a bathroom. I then returned to the hotel to complete my reservation, it only gets worst. They told me that my reservation was cancelled by the .com company who I made it through. Now here I was tired, disappointed and humiliated waiting for them to processing my reservation from scratch, making me feel like they were doing me a huge favor, and not knowing what room they would give me. I almost left that place and go to my favorite CHOICE HOTELS where I am treated with dignity and respect, but since I was already there, I decided to stay. Good luck to my fellow travelers going there. Don't get me wrong, the rooms were super and clean with good parking. They just need to be customer friendly and sympathetic to their customers needs.
